Hi everyone,

I recently rang gamcare today and the person I spoke to was brilliant she was really helpful so I'd just like to say thank you to her first, she recommended me talking to others on here.

A little bit about myself. I started gambling at an early age but nothing serious as I didn't have the necessary finances to commence any large bets. I left for university and through my student grants and loans that's where it all began...

This year I won about 3000 from roulette machines alone, they are the only things I placed bets on. I couldn't believe it I was hooked, I had too much money for my own good and started going to the bookies every day from Christmas 2013. I was relentlessly hooked on roulette and I played it so often I knew exactly what number the ball would land on the second it came in. Well this week I lost my 3000 and now I'm left with 500.

After reading this forum, i consider myself extremely lucky, I don't owe anyone money, I live with my parents upon coming back from university so I don't pay rent. As I said I haven't lost everything and I can only feel for those who have. The reason I'm posting is because I want out now, I don't want to end up in the future in serious debt and I recognise that would be me if I didn't address the situation now. I have my whole life ahead of me and I don't want to spend it obsessing over roulette.

On a positive note I have self excluded myself from my local bookmakers and surrounding areas. Thank you for your time guys any advice is good advice, thank you

Thanks for the feedback friend 🙂

I made more positive steps today. Handed in my completed self exclusion forms. I must say I was daunting the experience of asking for such forms and felt embarrassed. However, the staff where really kind, understanding and helpful. They obviously recognised that the fobts where affecting me and wanted me to get better. Also, I put all my remaining money into a savings account which I cannot touch so I won't be tempted. I know it has only been one day, but this is the first day since decemember where I haven't been into the bookies. I feel so positive for the future and I'm just thankful I'm finally trying to put a stop to it. If anyone wants to chat please reply :). Thanks

Hi Rams

I just popped by to say hello and well done on your progress so far 🙂

I believe we are entering day 2 together. It is early days but I am sure if we listen to others on here and share their experiences and positivity we will be just fine. Stay strong and good luck. Always about if you need some moral support.

Take care.
