Does anyone else that has stopped gambling still track the results of the events they would have bet on? Any advice on how to stop this or will it ease down in time?

Thanks

Hi Chance

I used to do that yes but before my last relapse, it is a slippery slope mate. Since my councelling I haven't been interested and what I though was a love for sport has died down a lot. Maybe go and get some therapy it worked wonders for me.

All the best.

Matt

3 weeks no gambling, feeling good! Got through payday unscathed always a test having money available, did cross my mind but only a passing thought. Now i'm blocked from all online sites makes my recovery a lot easier as for me to gamble i would have to go into a bookies which has never been my thing. Handing over money so much more real than clicking a button in private.

I have so much more time on my hands, more head space, doing better at work cause i can fully focus, have more time for friends & family, just generally being a nicer person.

Still reading lots on here every day which helps, stay strong all!

Thanks Matt, yeah going strong. Hope your happy and healthy! Feeling positive, no big urges. On a boys night out tonight, drink usually makes me want to gamble but now I can't gamble online the blocks are there. Still not the time to get cocky, one day at a time.
Thanks for checking in, appreciate it!

Top night jaw was hurting from laughing so much, didn't gamble. So many times in the past hungover I've opened an account on a Saturday morning and gambled on sport all day. Those thoughts are still there especially when you have money in your account and the right sport is on. I can't help but still track sports results and odds, hoping this will pass. It does feel different this time and the blocks are there to make it harder.

How are you getting on Matt?

Hi Chance

Glad to hear it!

I have also been that hungover guy betting on anything the next day from rugby to cricket to football and horse racing. Those are dangerous thoughts mate. Couple of pieces of advice, get hold of the book the Easy way to stop gambling by Allen Carr. It is a good read and helps. Also maybe go have a chat with a therapist who specialises in addiction, I put a huge ammount of my recovery down to working with mine for a few months.

I am good, life is a world better without the gamble. Occasionally I think about it (Wimbledon was a test for me) but in reality I know I never want to turn back to those days lost in a gambling haze.

50 days GF, next target 100.
Feeling good, doing better at work, being nice to all humans. Amazing that when your not being consumed by gambling you have so much more time on your hands, time for friends & family.
