So this is day 1.....ended up in A&Edue to overdose after spending money out of our joint account again. I can't live with the guilt and this horrible person.

I have a very supportive husband who I'm still wondering why he has not left me and 2 beautiful children. I've been gambling on and off for 2 years. Spent around £30k and know I can't control this problem. I am so ashamed of everything and thought life was not worth living. I can beat this problem and I will....I just need control back

Hi Mrs12,

Reading your post I expirienced some flashbacks. Just over four years ago I was sitting in my office in the dark about to ingest a cocktale of very nasty chemicls. No money, debts out of my means and no-one to talk to. A colleague entered the room and sat with me for a long time and convinced me not to go through with my fatal plans. I am so grateful for this intervention as my life four years down the line is a world apart from all that. Sure there were so many things that happened inbetween, counselling, support, gamcare and hardwork. You can do it too.

If you can think of today of your rock bottom then the only way is up. Sure the guilt and the stress does not just disappear, but you have made an increadible start by being so honest and open. You have mentioned that you have a husband that is standing by you and you have 2 children. Sure they may not be extatic about your gambling problem, however by turning things around you can and will regain thier respect. If one of your children had a problem you would encourage them and be proud of them if they turned things around. Just because you have made a few bad decissions does not make you a bad person and give yourself some slack and be kind by giving yourself a crack at recovery. Like I said those close to you may be unhappy about your gambling problem however you can recover and eventually live a possitive life. Suicide is irreversable and imagine how devistated those who love you would feel if you were successful.

I really feel for you as when you hit a low in gambling options seem limited. The netline are brilliant to talk to at these times and if it is out of these hours the samaratains are increadible. Talk, Talk and talk some more there are answers and you can recover.

Please take care, you are worth it!!
