Hi Everyone
Well, I have a bit of a football bet here and there, but the main thing for me is online slots. I'll get in a cycle of win a bit lose a bit, and generally lose even more.
I'd hate to think how much I've lost over the last 5 years or so I guess, prob around £20k it's like a drug to me, I'm in my 30s and still live at home with my parents without a girlfriend, i guess there's a big void in myself that needs filling. Don't get me wrong, it's not just a boredom thing, if I come in from work after a s**t day I'll feel compelled to comfort gamble like its a release, stupd huh, and will end up blowing hundreds if not a couple of thousand
I've tried before to give up, go well for a bit but then something happens and just fall off the wagon. I feel surrounded by reminders - all the advertising on tv, online when you are even on Facebook or Twitter, it's everywhere. I swear for every one time I've self excluded myself from a site, it seems another twenty appear.
I'm sure life never used to be this difficult. Not making excuses, but am sure if I couldn't do it online and had to visit a shop then it wouldn't be a thing. There's part of me that doesn't even realise it's money sometimes, it's just numbers on a screen.
I am here today though to share my thoughts with you. Hoping it will help. My close circle of friends know but my family dont. I'm ashamed to tell them.
Might sound daft, but as of 00:00 have gone cold turkey again, have downloaded an "I quit gambling" app on my phone which tells me how much I will save based on the average I think i spend. See how we go.
I need to do it. It has got to the point where it is unhealthy to carry on.
X
Hi Michael
You sound the same as me all my problems came from online betting not been in a bookies in years, it's way too easy online like you say just typing numbers in it does not seem real
It never ends well you need to do whatever to stop gambling for good, I've tried many times & failed but was never really determined, this time I am, it's no fun chasing losses
Your money can be spent on much better things than gambling, put the losses behind you & move on, your life will be better without gambling all it brings is stress & misery
Take whatever steps you can to stop opening new accounts, give somebody control of your bank card if you think that will help
I know what you mean about betting adverts everywhere it's a nuisance nearly every advert when the football is on is for a bookies, they just want to reel us in, the odds are so far stacked in their favour we cannot win
Good luck, it's not easy but your life will be better if you stop gambling
Affected by gambling?
