Well guys and girls I'm 22, 23 next month and have developed quite a problem with gambling on football on my mobile! Has a couple of big wins in the last 12 months which I've both wasted! Must have spent about 6k of my own money in the last 12 months including the majority of my wages these last 6 months! All started at university a couple of years ago who betted nearly everyday and one day i decided to have a dabble and had a decent winner, which drew me in to betting, I'd steadily start upping my betting frequency where it became a little alarming and now i don't get everyday but that's because I put £1k, £500 bets on which is the majority of my wages. I took out 2k loan which I gambled away as well as pay day loans which I have paid back. I've got a couple of credit cards that I need to pay back as well as this albeit not because of gambling! Today was the last straw and I self excluded myself from the bookie I always use! Just so depressing and probably the lowest I've been in my life atm, joined here in search of hope that gambling can be overcome.

Nmb92,
Could turn out to be a smart move coming to The Forum.
At this stage it's probably best to contact gamcare with a view to counselling and or visit your local GA meetings.
I use the 2015 Challenge on here and that's helped me stay " clean" for over three months. Writing a diary on here could be useful to you as well.
I'll not pretend it's been an easy ride but it feels good to know what little money I've got left after bills etc is mine and not earmarked for gambling. I gambled mainly online overwhelmingly on horses, followed closely by footie and a bit of roulette thrown in. I've probably lost around 200k over the years and I've come to terms with that now. It's dead money and gone for ever and I have no intention of chasing losses.
If you've been betting because you are depressed about something else going on in your life then discussing it with your GP might be an idea.
Block all devices so that you can't access gambling sites. Put your finances in the hands of a trusted family member until you feel sufficiently confident to take control of them again.
These are just a few ideas and other contributors may come forward with some input of their own shortly.
There is a good life to be enjoyed once gambling is no longer on the roster.
Best Wishes and Take Care Now.
