Hi, back again for my second post. Had a positive weekend. Resisted not going to the bookies on Saturday for Grand National. Didn't even watch it either. Paying off my final payday loan, then that card is getting cut so I don't go down that route again. I do have that worry in the back of my mind that I will fall off the wagon and go back to bingo. I hope not.
Hey emb30 - massive congrats on that. I resisted the urge of Grand National too and feel really chuffed with myself. I live in an area of London where literally every other shop is a Pawnbrokers, Coffee shop then Bookies. I imagine the Council's thinking is that you can go into the bookies, lose all your money, then walk next door to the pawnbrokers, sell your possessions, head back to the bookies, lose some more, then when your fingers are stripped of gold rings, your necklaces gone, nothing left to sell, you can go into the coffee shop with your final pound and ruminate over a coffee! 😉
What I found even more laughable (in a darkly ironic comedy sense), was how all my local bookies had balloons outside for Grand National, and staff with fliers hanging outside - fake welcoming smiles whilst trying to clear away the usual mug-punters outside smoking cigarettes, shaking and sweating. Balloons, free coffee and biscuits????! FFS! "Yeah it's all a bit of fun, it's all a gas" - kind of reminds me of those stories back in the day of drug dealers hanging outside the school gates offering free samples of heroin to suck in a new generation and make them become dependant.
Sorry for the purple prose ramble, but thinking all this on Saturday helped me avoid a relapse again.
Congratulations on finding your inner- strength and mojo - long may it continue.
Sincerely,
Mx
Thank you for your support. I was behind a lot of bills, my poor mum had to bail me out which was her savings.big feel ashamed what I have done. But now mum is in charge of my finance I am not hiding anything.
That's great. I found it such a relief when everything was out in the open and I could finally tell people if and why I was finding it tough. I'm really pleased for you. Build on your success with each passing day. And congratulations again. Molehole x
