Hi!

First post here and a bit nervous! I set up Gamstop on Monday and I’m now 4 days gamble free.

I also started taking some medication for depression this week too but I’m feeling really bad and really missing my only outlet and enjoyment. I know I wasn’t enjoying losing it’s just very hard.

I can’t seem to find any other hobbies, I don’t really have friends and I just need a little support really.

Feeling thankful I did sign up to Gamstop because I’d be on the tables right now if it hadn’t stopped me logging in!

thanks for listening to my ramble!

Hi Noway,

Thank you for taking the step and posting on the Forum.

Firstly, congratulations on being 4 days GF. This is great to hear.

Well done for signing up for Gamstop, i am glad you are finding i useful. If you would like some additional barriers you might also want to look at blocking software. This will stop you being able to access gambling content on the devices you usually use.

You don't mention if you have contacted us before but i just wanted to let you know that our advisers are available 24/7 on our Livechat and our HelpLine on 0808 8020 133. They can offer support, advice and guidance with this, please know that you don't have to go through this alone.

Keep posting and take care.

Thankyou so much!

i’ve been on live chat but that’s it.

Today has been a lot easier but my antidepressants are making me so tired I don’t want to do anything certainly not gamble!

Hiya noway things will get easier for you my friend as medication takes abit to kick in then you've got to find the one for you. They're no magical pills out there to stop gambling but with help and determination you can get there as all you've got to do is read all the success stories on here and remember no man is ban island and we all need and deserve help

Hi,

Sorry you're feeling so down. I totally understand where you're coming from. I don't have many friends either and the gambling at times was my only enjoyment which is sad since when you step back you see it's not at all enjoyable it's just a distraction and with depression it's can be the only thing to make you feel something. Good or bad.

From my own experience with medication it takes some weeks before you start to feel the benefits. hopefully you will start to feel better soon and that this chapter of your life is over
