Hello guys.

have not posted for a while I first joined last October and used to spend a fortune online gambling. First few months were amazing even now I don’t put thousands in to sites and lose. My new problem for some reason is WSOP poker. At first I was using it when I had the urge to gamble as it’s just poker and you can’t actual win real money it’s just for fun, supposed to be. The last few weeks I have been buying chips for some reason and doesn’t matter how much you win you can never withdraw as it’s just meant to be a fun poker app. Tonight I have spent 100 pound on fake money that you can only play with and never collect but for some reason I’m paying for chips just to try and win loads of money that I can’t actually withdraw. What the hell is wrong with me!

Yes I used to do this in a game to win credits basically gambling to win ships and other in game items with no way of getting my money back,  you can argue it's basically gambling. I spent a fair bit doing this and poker is gambling anyway.

It can lead us straight back to normal gambling to try to get are money back. I guess this is part of a road to recovery with a bump in the road. Keep coming back to gamcare and sharing you're thoughts and I hope you stop buying useless credits for gambling with.

Just for today I will not gamble, and understand that admin is not a fan of AC/dc

Hi

It is quite well known that people will swap one addiction for another.

It is important to invest more time in your recovery.

Trying to escape indicates that you are still emotionally vulnerable.

That you are not yet started to heal the hurt inner child in you.

If you could step back and look at compulsive gambling, you would see that although it is about the money that is used and normally lost, it is also about certain behaviours that the problem gambler has, and it sounds like you haven’t addressed those behaviours. If you are trying to stop gambling, why are you still playing poker. It doesn’t matter that it’s free, you aren’t giving your mind a chance to be gambling free.
I did the same thing myself and it was only when I deleted the app could I feel free. For the record it took me £1000’s of “free” poker before I deleted the app, so if you can do it now you’ll save yourself a lot of money but also time.

Chris.
