Hey,

I’ve gambled since I can remember so made the decision I needed to stop, after racking up debt of more then £20,000 I’m struggling more then ever to pay it off so keep thinking about going to gamble to win some money!! I know it sounds stupid but I’m struggling to see how I can get myself out of this hole without trying to win some money. I can’t speak to anyone of ask them for help so I’m riding this solo!! I’m guessing I’m writing hear for some support and reassurance that it does get easier!!

I’ve not gambled since early September

It does definitely get easier! Are you paying to each creditor individually or through Stepchange for example?

Contacting Stepchange definitely helped me realise that gambling to get out of debt is never going to work, and that paying a manageable amount through a DMP each month allows me to pay what I can afford, and not feel completely stressed because I don't have any money each month.  Definitely get in touch with them, they've really helped me.

Also, if you haven't already, put some blocks in place (Gamstop, Gamban app and Moses) to stop you from going back to gambling.  I gambled almost every day for 10 years and I'm now 51 days gamble free, it does get easier.  Like you my biggest issue was gambling to clear debts, it will just lead to you falling more and more into the hole.

Hope this helps!

Shaw

It does get easier as the great advice above has commented. also just to add to this I hear comments such as you will forget about it but still have the odd urge and temptation to gamble again but hold on to that stomach dropping feeling the sleepless nights no food in the fridge dreading the postman delivering a letter the terrifying ring of the phone from creditors that feeling is your biggest allie to never gambling again. don't wait till tommorow to put every block in place .and also contact all your creditors to explain the situation to put an affordable payment plan in change or contact step change to assist you on your journey back to the  happy tranquil  life you deserve and want best wishes.
