Hi Everyone,

So I haven’t been on here for a while and can’t believe how quickly this year is flying by.

It’s been 89 days since my last gamble and I feel so good about it. Absolutely nothing, not even a lotto ticket. Last year I was very fortunate to have an amazing year, seeing it in married, being the best man at my friends wedding and finding out I’m going to be a father. But sadly I also got caught up in very bad habits playing the fobts in the bookmakers and couldn’t control how often I played them and how much I put in them. I tried to get away from them but I just couldn’t. Some weeks I would win week upon week, but when I lost it all went plus more resulting in me racking up debts on my credit card. Finding out I’m going to be a father and seeing how out of control it was becoming I decided I needed to do something as it’s only going to end one way that’s losing everything and the feeling I have knowing that I have massively let my wife down spurred me on. I signed up to this site for advice and put blocks in place. I’m banned from almost all bookmakers in my town and surrounding towns and have also put the blocks in on the cities which I occasionally visit. This has helped so much and have never tried to breach this either. Being banned from almost all the main betting websites too, has left me no where to go which is so good. I put off putting these blocks off for so long, but in all honesty it’s the best thing I could of done and would strongly advise others to try it if not already. The urges I use to of had have gone away and knowing each day I’m gamble free makes me want to go more days gamble free. I’m concentrating on getting these debts paid off and devoted to being a good husband/ father and this is the biggest obstacle I have to overcome. I know in the grand scheme of things it’s only a small amount of time that I have been gamble free but I feel I’m moving in the right direction. For all those struggling please ring gamcare and follow there advice. Everything they say is true which helps, but the only person that can do that is yourself but the support is there if you are willing to listen and take on board what they say.

Happy Easter.

Thanks

Thanks Samba. I know it’s just I have had big breaks in my gambling past since when I first started to gamble back at the age of 18 in 2007 and it’s just slowly got worse and worse thinking I’m in control when I was completely not. Last year what I am currently managing now seemed an impossibility. But the blocks are in place now, so if any urges do occur it’s a lot more difficult to have an off day. I’m so focused on getting to the end of the year without betting for the first time in ages I do feel in control. I know will this is something which will always be with me and it’s something you can’t cure, but can treat if properly controlled.
