Talented son there and what a great reminder for you , yeah I look at mine every day whether feeling good or bad and it reminds me to 'believe' !

Hope the boss has giving you some good well dones for all your putting into his buisness cause it sure shows you are making a difference , just like you make a difference to us on here with your words of encouragement and inspiration

Pride pride pride comes bursting off the page and why shouldn't it , the classic phrase springs to mind kids are what we make them as parents

And am sure ur son is truly .inspired by u and is just as proud of his dad and only u made that happen as it cud av been a completely different story

morning diary. 18 weeks today since i had a punt. Today the mac house overslept! Duncs then became paper boy for youngest, then got a puncture fixed that, then cleaned house, bathed stinkin dog lol! Walked dog, left for work got another puncture a mile and a half from home 3 and a half from work! No cash due to triangle! Ran home in birkenstock(not wise lol) got cash now on bus to work. These events 18 weeks ago would have resulted in me walking into a bookmakers to fix it! ! Today i just smile, this is living warts and all i dont need to waste what i have by having a punt,which we all know would just lead to more carnage. So the triangle works i got a free work out and will just catch up with the workload through the day. I walked away from my 3rd ga meeting with this in my head from a fella who is 23 yrs no bet he said "its easy all we are asking is for you not to have a bet" and when i have days like today which set out to pull the rug from underneath me i think about those words and in a perverse way he is oh soo right we as compulsive gamblers just need to take those googles off to see it! So i will face the tattoo gun in the autumn when my kitchen cools i am going to pay the fella in installments till then from my pocket money(yes dusty it will hurt alot lol) so now i have that to work for and the steam fair is booked! Now time to leave the bus hit lunch service with a smile and as always a sprinkling of laughter(and no doubt a cone or two from the freezer.) enjoy your recovery one and all i know it helps duncs stepping forward never back.

Great post and it did make me giggle a little :), those are the days like you say, i would of stressed about for most of the day and then hid behind my laptop when i got home and gambled, but no more, now i stand tall and face them with a smile.

I attended my first G.A meeting last week and i will be going to top up my medicane again this week. Im taking all the support and advice i can get, my stupid pride never would of allowed that before.

Great post. I agree totally. We are allowed to experience bad moments or bad days and don't have to further compound our misery by gambling. The same goes for all addictions I guess. As soon as something bad happens to someone trying to quit smoking the first thing they do is light a cig. I have done this in the past but don't understand it. Like yourself, when something bad happens I smile and tell myself how strong I am now that I can deal with the situation with out cracking up. We can deal with tough life situations because we are now in control of the way we want to live our lives and control of our emotions and as long as we don't return to our old ways we can enjoy this way of thinking for the rest of our lives.

Morning Diary.

I have today taken a leaf out of dustys book and have a £20 note in my possesion Not for ice cream,doughnuts or coffee LOL but I will have it in my possesion so if I am unfortunate to have a repeat performance I can save myself the work out and get to work on my scheduled time. I do this not to test myself I with honesty can say the bookies wont be seeing another penny of duncs dough let alone a hard earnt twenty!!

I do this because through my recovery I feel a better person if I have an organised schedule and still react in an agitated manner if things go off course but I am learning and will continue to learn to better myself, Tonight I will be busy and the double bank holiday is upon us so double busy!!! Happy days then next week I will be putting the brakes on and pulling up a chair to chill in for a day. So again I with new unpuncturable(YER RIGHT WE WILL SEE LOL) tubes fitting I step forward never back toward the light.

An organised schedule, someone said to me last night that they find a change difficult to cope with , it must us cg's, i have routines and if they are a little out of kilta then it throws me for the day, but you can see this now your googles are off and have done something to counteract if a curve ball comes your way again, this is another giant step in your recovery and makes my smile even wider thinking about how far you have come and continue to go each and every day.

Sooo pleased to see your still busy at work but boy you need that time off next week to just sit, relax, be with your loved ones and maybe share another pint of the black stuff with your eldest!

You deserve not just that but all the good that's coming your way, just because you say NO BET TODAY

I'll raise my glass to you (any excuse for me lol)

Evening diary.

No Ga tonight as I am sitting typing my post between dockets sat on an oil drum at my pass.

Been in today since silly o'clock and have given my no2 chef a night off as he is worn out and I will needto be on top form for the next four days.

I Will get to my meeting next week and till then gamcare will be my medicine.

My wife is back dining tomorrow at my place with our 2 youngest my biggest critics LOL.

All good here no time to even contemplate a punt and the fact that the freezer is stacked with ice cream,fresh ground coffee for the mornings and most of all the best part of duncs day my beautiful wife to cuddle up to at night are all made possible by the fact that I have continued to win the battle against this deasease gambling.

i was at my GA meeting last night. It is always said by people many years into their recovery that we need the discipline of attending meetings regularly.

Think GA fellowship are aware however that family and work commitments come first.
