Hi Duncan

Rest is very important in recovery. Not sure why we go gung ho at everything we do. All or nothing is my battle cry and it needn't be that way. Hope today isn't too hard on you and you take it easy on yourself. Take care

Hi Duncan

Enjoyed reading your post this morning, as I always do enjoying reading yours. Pleased you have enjoyed this day already, I haven't even set foot out of my bedroom yet! 🙂

Thanks for your posts recently when I haven't maybe been able to post on yours as much. I am still so pleased to see, you are in control of your addiction and you are my inspiration, to just step back, think and to beat this bug every day, one day at a time. We make those choices to bet or not bet and just for today, I won't bet.

Have a great day mate.

andy, glad to see your doing well my friend. Smiler thanks for dropping by you as always talk alot of sense, well folks i am on way home the back of sunday broken just a couple of tables to come in so handed the reigns over to my number two and on route home to enjoy a euro match whilst waiting for dinner a sumptuous roast cooked by the wife. Dont know who is playing i am safe in the knowledge that myself and youngest will enjoy it for what it is sport. Eldest on train home from his weekend he has had a good one his performance went well and has by the sounds of things added some new dates to his diary. Folks i write this all in the knowledge that 19 weeks ago i would if not working well be doing my load in a bookies. Today not a chance. Duncs compulsive gambler no bet today.

DMac,

A sunday roast followed by the football sounds like a great end to a busy weekend.

I am loving the Euros. I think the Euros are better than the World Cup. Some great games been on. Who knows what age I will be before my team ever makes it back there.

Tomso.

morning diary. Firstly i woke this morning laughing at the sound of a tropical down pour! And yes i knew "dusty" must be on holiday ! Lol i today name you the gamcare barometer! Lol. Last nights football dont know the score as after roast, run with the hound and my own body weight in ice cream i slept upon the couch with the hound curled up to be woken when the football had long finished and told bed! Lol. I am on way to work to get my england v france menu on the go! And sorry for me france win! Well menu anyhow! A long shift today then lunch tomorrow then FEET UP for a day and a half! (in the rain no doubt.)i am on way to weekly meeting and today i am going to talk to the owner about honesty, he flowers things up by adding imaginary customers which makes ordering a nightmare so i will be giving him a stern talking to! We tell him alot to leave it to us to run and he is there to "peacock" about the place as he is a finance man by trade and a hinderence in a kitchen! Lol. All this comes from my straight down the middle approach to things which honesty is a very big lesson i have learnt since starting my recovery and can smell a porky pie from a mile off i guess as i thought whilst at it i was a pro! Oh those gambling googles! On my day off i plan to achieve one thing to take stock of my debts re write out my list and re focus on re payment as i know i can get it paid off much quicker and plan to do this. So off into the breach umbrella in hand(thanks dusty! Lol) to give france a run for there coq au vin ! Stepping forward never back. Duncs compulsive gambler no bet today.

Morning Dunc.

Glad to hear your still doing well.

We're getting there!

Like you i'm trying to sort out my debts.

This will take more time but as you've said, at least they are not increasing due to gambling.

Take care,

Best wishes,

gazza

Yo,

So if I ring up work tomorrow and say please please let me come in . Do you think it might be sunny for your day off. Ummmmmm, am I tempted , not on your nelly.

This girls on a mission to rid the house of dust, and throw away enough rubbish to fill eight skips.

Was thinking about you going into your twenties and coming out of your teens. Recovery hope we grow stronger and wiser as we age , through it.

Have a great day off , hope Sarah has sometime off with you. Rumour has it it will be sunny, maybe a nice romantic picnic. Would be in order ?

Dusty xx

evening. Diary. Dusty if you could just wave that wand of yours! Today two things happened no 3 that i will record. One a fella from my ga has fallen off the wagon and has been in recovery longer than i so i am a bit shocked to be honest as on the surface he seemed well in control so i will take this as another dose of medicine not to let myself get complacent to this addiction we all battle to stay in control of and most of all i wish the fella well and hope he returns to ga soon. Number 2 a bailif turned up at my house today to re pocess our stuff, due to the bank holiday messing up a payment which has been made to the company making us default by 1 day. This has resulted in us occurring 187 quid in costs and 252 quid out of pocket today, i understand i did not pay my council tax i punted it but for 4 months we have made headway into the arrears on terms greater than they asked but no because the bank holiday made them recieve it a day late we suffer. Number 3 this in the past would have led to only one thing further destruction! Today i rationally fixed it got on at work and the last table of the night said it was the best food ever and tipped 50 quid! I dont take tips as a rule tonight smiling i take 20quid to add to the pot! I will not be beaten! Duncs stepping forward never back.

morning diary. Today dawns 20 weeks since I laid a single bet, no bookies, fobts no lotto not a single punt, i have said before many times i used to start 80% of sentences "want to bet" today it all changes, i have been the luckiest man alive and have not won a penny. I do have a wife and family who i adore and receive it back in spades, i have a circle of friends i hold dear, i have a great job and all with a smile across my face. Least i not forget i have ga and this forum and all its fantastic folk upon it and in my pocket just a click away. The urge to gamble left me a while ago and was replaced by an urgency to live! My recovery has enlightened me, many of you have offered lessons in life i would have shunned before, today i take them two handed. My advice(smilers) handed to me i hand to you "be kind to yourself" folks it works, give recovery your all whatever works for you keep at it, there is a light i can see it over the horizon and most of all i want to share it with you one and all. Duncs stepping forward never back. Compulsive gambler 140 days no bet.

HI Duncs,

Sorry you had such a cr** day yesterday , I can really relate to your post, a day like that when i was gambling would of made me hit the self destruct button once again, Now i feel like a different person, i dont take it personally, i dont have self pity, and i dont think anyone is out to get me. I pick myself up, dust myself off , smile and say... Do your worst life, im still here, im still standing and im still smiling... and i think about all the things i have to be thankfull for.

I like standing up to life now rather than running away and hiding behind a roulette table or a fruit machine, I find im more aware of my actions and im more responsible for them... If feels good....

So on my day 50 with no bet i raise my glass to you and all on here finding there own way to that light....... It sure is pretty.

Blondie the BIG 50.... and NOT OUT..
