Hey Dunc,

Yes, emotions seem to be kicking in for me now, knowing what i almost lost, I still got time to redeem what I have proscatinated in. Anyway's I have a new challenge now.

I love Bob, so.. Here is the deal, I will play that Redemption song and list it here as an audio track on christmas day. I need to master it, savour it, it is another goal.

Looking forward to this challenge... Another day we are bet free with high spirits..

Love you man.

JP

Morning Diary.

Gazza no Ga last night, but my weekly check in with a fella from my meeting complete this morning, Glad to report a rare meeting as no new members, always a pleasure to hear.

So this morning topped up upon the valuable medication delivered by the wonderfull place called gamcare, Great to see upon one hand a few lightbulb moments for members, seeing the light we all strive for,on the other hand payday coinsides with the news of folk back at it,something which dampens a mans heart.

The answer, I wish I had it,in a bottle to dish out to each and every compulsive gambler, but i nshort as I think I may have mentioned before At it I would have refused the bottle and You got it "chased the dream"

Today I know I can just be there, offer my unconditional support and hope the light comes to there lives sooner rather than later.

For the best part the good outweighs the bad here, something that fills a man with the resolve to "abstain and maintain"

Me I will be here gloves on,in my corner, ready to fight the good fight!!

All for one and one for all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Duncs stepping forward never back.

Compulsive gambler NO BET today,NO time for it.

Thanks for popping in Duncs...our old crew now putting diaries to sleep and living which is great..

I guess the forum works that way and new people come on board and team up just as we all did earlier in the year...and the recovery wheels roll on...like rolling snowball.

Im sure you and Mr B are moving onto other levels of recovery and taking it to the next level....

Always chuffed to see your name on page one ....just been washing the bath again! after a run around the park with Dot.mud mud glorious mud...

Morning Duncanmac

Congratulations on ur new job really pleased for u , I hope it all goes well and am sure it will ,I would not av hesitated before to say I wish u luck but for the last year I av avoided that word as I see it as an association to gambling and also u getting ur job had nothing to do with luck but hard work and effort

Another everyday word I avoid is bet I replace it with reckon , its amazing how many people use this word freely in speech

So I wish u will and I reckon this new job hi just another step for u life moving forward

Pleased for u as u really deserve it

Morning diary.

Well another weekend comes along, today the first round of the FA cup, youngest off to watch our beloved Pompey and for the princely sum of a £1 !! fantastic, joes off doing a workshop,lily-may has her first day in her new part-time job,Myself and my beloved got up early, had porridge, cleaned up,walked the hound and now are in the library using the free internet, doubling up our clubcard vouchers, catching up with the electric world oh and of course a visit to a place that I have close to my heart,a place were there is always a word or two of great advice a dash of humour mixed in and enough vitality to top up a fella's resolve.

Not just a resolve to abstain, but a resolve to squeeze life for all it's worth.

So today theassiam,I too got a good deal,well several!!Thankyou.

Today I dont have time to formulate a punt, and a little bird told me the odds are s**t!!!! so I will enjoy the fruits we have(thanks Mum those apples are great crumble pie today!!) and continue to find in life a path that I can enjoy.

Hope the sun shines upon all gamcarers, have a great weekend,I know gamble free I will.

Duncs stepping forward never back.

Afternoon diary.

I wish I had the answer to this question, but I don't.

Today I saw a lad, a year older than my joe standing outside the shop scratching like mad on a scratch card, he looked worn out, tired of life, he won I think a tenner, said to his mate, theres my lottery money for tonight.innocent enough, you might say ?? Walking off my joe said, oh he has the gambling bad dad, he works hard,19, kid on the way and spends his life in the bookies, or lottery or two spiders running up a wall.hang on a minute, wind the clock back twenty years, ring any bells ?????

I saw the ghost of christmas past !!

The story goes that this group of lads started on so scratch cards, one of them won a big prize, set himself up, car, savings, holiday happy days.

So what is the answer?? See I got shown many many times the error of my ways, stuck two fingers up to em, went harder at it to prove them wrong !!!

So today, I asked myself the question

Is gambling and the industry the anti christ??

One side of the coin, a scratchcard brings a lot of joy, the other leads a lad to become all consumed by it.

For me the answer is this, I believe the addiction is the anti christ , to be blunt I cannot think of any compulsive behaviour that brings good ??

So today I will focus on addiction, mine being gambling I hope to by controlling mine, go on to help others, I think that if recovery is a chain, passing the message of abstinence is a link.

Next time I see the lad alone, I will quietly offer my olive branch, I hope he and many others ***** it.

Evening diary

Wow it rained alot this morning!! Still got to use up more apples!! Made some cookies, a chocolate fudge cake to boot.

Walked the dog, sorry waded the dog!! Then bathed the dog again lol.

Just enjoyed a family supper and more apple crumble pie, now all shut in the lounge, curtains drawn, doors shut as hovis is petrified of the fireworks, and were we live the local folks could clear the national debt of a small country with what hits the skies !! Good for them, me I will snuggle up upon the couch and wait for the x to finish lol!!!

All of this made possible because today I made a choice not to devistate my life by getting up and walk to the bookies and chase false dreams.so today I once again bettered my tomorrow. Just for today No Bet

hey Duncs

just reading your passionate and compassionate posts there....

I also agree also that all addiction and anything that thwarts life and saps spirit and keeps us prisoner is the anti christ...against life.

My Dots has been under my legs most of the time due to fireworks..its not the fizzly ones, she likes them..its the ones that sound like a mortar bomb she hates..

Keep chosing the right path duncs..I know you will....by the way'...Barack Obama's presidency campaign has nicked your line......just seen him on the news with all his supporters holding banners saying "forwards"...lol

keep on keeping on my friend
