1st of April I last gambled.  Only one fool and that's me!!  I have decided, enough really is enough! I want to start a diary but not really sure if I am recording in the correct place and/or, how to go about this?  Any help would be great.  Than you all.

I’m new to this and only 5 days in but I’ve been keeping a diary on here. It’s really helping me get my feelings out and keep focus. Just keep adding to this thread and spill your guts. Honesty seems to be the key for gamblers as it turns us into liars so get everything out in here. It does help. Stay strong. You can do this

Hello Pink Lady,

Well done for starting your new diary thread.

Yes, you are doing this in the correct way/place on the Forum- the Recovery Diaries section. Just add/post your diary updates as often as you wish and in as much or as little detail as you feel is appropriate. Some people do these daily others less frequently. As you can see others are able to read your progress and post supportive comments too.

Your determination and taking it one day at a time will serve you well. Being able to look back on your progress can be motivation within itself. It can also in turn be motivating to others!

Best Wishes,

Louise

Saturday, just chilling.  Feeling really tired - probably from the physical and emotional aftermath of gambling nearly all my hard earned salary on 28th March! I am telling myself to “go with what my body is saying” and just use this time to relax and reflect.

The weather is blustery today but I will aim to get out for a short walk nonetheless - one of my goals I have put in place. 🚶🏻‍♀️.  I may also join a chat room today or this evening as I am still unsure of how to write daily in my diary/read other people’s diaries? I have been on this site many years ago but the set up is very much different now.

Take care all and be kind to yourselves.

Something simple and lovely happened earlier today…….. I was driving to Waitrose and suddenly realised that I was singing along to my ABBA c.d in the car! 🚘.  I suddenly thought to myself, “it’s been a while since I felt myself doing this”! Why?. Oh yes! I am no longer stressing/consuming my mind with ridiculous thoughts of “winning even more money”!!  Funnily enough, I have never “won” any money, as I have always ended up paying it all back.  Not today thank you.

“April fools - no more the fool”!

Take care all, stay strong of mind, focused and be kind to yourself.

A lovely simple thing happened today! I was driving to Waitrose and suddenly realised that I was singing along to my ABBA c.d! I thought to myself, “I don’t recall doing this in some time”!  No doubt due to feeling stressed and anxious, gambling, trying to win some more money!  I say “win more money”! Ha!  I have come to realise that my wins were just loans from the gambling sites, who were patiently sitting there, smiling and just waiting for me to repay it all back to them AND some more! So…… 1st April 2024, I just thought, “enough really is enough”!  They have now had my final loan payment and I am fully paid up!

So yes, it’s time to just cherish the simple things that make me feel happy and cost me nothing!👌.

”April fools - no more the fool”!

Take care all.

Good job pink lady. Keep it up. You seem really motivated and it’s good to see. Seeing others motivated and suceeding is helping me do the same. Maybe one day I’ll be singing to abba songs, although I highly doubt it 🤣

Thank you weirdfish. Motivation for anything we do, really is the key and helps us to strive for what we are after.  I am so motivated with many areas of my life but this gambling bug really got me and sent me down the road to destruction on many occasions! However, I am still here, I am still working, I have my own home and I am able to feed myself and pay my bills.  For now this is enough! This is not what I want going forward though - why waste any spare money of my hard earned salary, by literally just handing it over to gambling sites.  Let’s just say, we hardly see any betting shops/sites closing down/going out of business do we?!

keep going weirdfish and continue fighting the fight with the rest of us on here. 💪.

P.s - Give ABBA a go.  I dare you!! 🤣😝.
