Hi Pink Lady
I love your post, always love your posts but this one starts low and keeps building
Hi Pink Lady,
I admire your persistence in the job hunting, and am keeping everything crossed and hopeful that something comes along for you soon. It's a really tough world and job market out there at the moment.
Your strength in remaining positive and gamble free is amazing! Hope you're able to spend lots of time with your lovely family and friends at the moment, and this continues to keep your energy and spirits high.
Fran ❤️
Hi Fran
Thank you so much for your kind words 🩷.
Although being extremely independent, I have the best supportive family and friends around me 👌.
Regarding the job situation, A.I has a lot to answer for I believe and is not cracked up to be all it should be!👎. It appears to be ok at picking out all the “buzz words” in an application but then this falls apart at the interview stage so for me, it’s a whole waste of time, money and resources 👎.
My friend has been doing the same job I did for 20 years as a Programmes facilitator/Probation Officer, she for 22 years. She went to another area of work within the same organisation for 6 months after losing her Mum and she wasn’t up for doing two evening sessions per week at that time. Anyway, she decided it was time to return and vacancies had come up for that post. After doing that job for 22 years, she was told that she would still have to submit an application!! You know what’s coming ……… she received an email yesterday informing that she had NOT been successful at sifting stage to take her through to interview!🤷🏻♀️.
In the meantime, our friend/colleague who had been doing the interviews said that he had already interviewed two candidates who had passed the sifting stage. The first he said was a young lady who when asked what strengths she could bring to the role, replied, “can you tell me which job I am being interviewed for as I have applied for that many, I do not know what I am here for”!!😲. The second, a young male, when my colleague went through the responsibilities required for the role, his response was “oh, my expertise lies in I.T”!!😲. Needless to say, neither candidate were went any further in the recruitment stage.
Given that being a Probation Officer/Programmes facilitator involves working with people who offend/are high risk to society and need managing in terms of their risk factors/treatment goals, what has this got to do with being an expert in I.T?🤷🏻♀️. So as far as A.I being the way “forward” I rest my case!🥴.
One job I applied for and had an interview with two people interviewing me. I was more or less told that I was way too qualified for the job and I would be better doing something else 😲. I think I should be the judge of that don’t you?🤬.
Anyway, just for today I will stick to my Mantra ……. “Tomorrow is a new day”!👍. Let’s see what it brings 🙏.
Take care Fran and hope all ok in your world 🙏. I continue to read your updates in your diary and well done on your continued progress🙂.

Tomorrow is a new day Pinky, and you've had many new days that have brought joy to you, so keep positive. Life is full of ups and downs and you've navigated them all with such a great attitude. You'll get your rewards soon enough.
Still got everything crossed for you. Only a matter of time before your skills are noticed and you get the perfect job.
Stay strong mate 👍
Day 200!
Today/tomorrow seems to be all about the number 2.
Today I reach 200 days g.f.
Today I reach 200 days g.f after my 2 separate lapses last year.
Tomorrow will be 2 years since I last gambled minus my 2 separate lapses!!
Today I have 2 good pieces of news:
My DBS clearance came through much quicker than anticipated - watch this space;
Currently my good friend and Probation colleague is residing with me. She has recently sold her home and purchased an apartment just down the road from me. This is not ready for her to move into as of yet so between us, we came up with “2” ideas of how we can help each other out:
- I put a roof over her head and cook her evening meals (I cook every night for myself anyway so no problem);
- My friend is paying me lodgings.
She is just here temporarily but the extra money is really helping at the minute and we have also been good company for each other too👌.
So tomorrow marks 2 years g.f minus my 2 lapses and 2 years to the day that I returned to Gamcare after a number of years away.
Will I treat myself to my 200 day milestone? Oh yes! I have added one of my all time favourite things for this time of year to my Sainsbo’s online food delivery shop - a large Lindt chocolate Easter Bunnie!😋🍫. Yummy👌
What’s that saying ……… “It’s the small things in life that bring us the most pleasure”!😆.
Take care all and so will I.

Day 201
1st of April - “April Fools”! No fool today however or any other day going forward as far as gambling is concerned 👊💪.
Don’t let the gambling bug fool any of you today. Keep pushing ahead, stay strong and determined, stick to you plan/mini goals and watch your life get better in every way!👌.
Two years ago today was day 1 of no gambling for me. I managed to stay g.f for all of those days minus 2. I am not going to beat myself up about that, nor have I since then. Instead, I am going to remain proud that I have stuck to my guns, in order to get back to the sensible, money savvy person I always was/continue to be 💪.
I will make sure that today is a good day, no matter what gets thrown my way 😆.
Take care all.

Have a lovely Easter 🐣
Day 204.
Happy Easter weekend everyone!🐣🍫🐣🍫! Hope it’s a good one 🤞🙏.
For those of you who are struggling however, I pray that you find the strength to better your life by going one more day of no gambling. That in itself is an achievement and one that if you are able to repeat, will eventually better your days, weeks, months and years 🙏.
I am having a nice Easter weekend. Yesterday, I went to my sisters for fizz and homemade Easter cakes I baked!😋. She has my niece and family visiting for a few days👌.
Today I am cooking a red Thai meatball curry for supper at my sister’s. I will go over there again this afternoon to play with the cherubs. Then adult time will consist of food, wine and a sleepover 😆.
Tomorrow, it will be “up early” to do an Easter Egg hunt with my sister and her grandchildren. My lovely sister is then cooking us all a Sunday roast lamb dinner and making a “Hot cross bun” bread and butter pudding!😋.
Sending much love and best Easter wishes to you all 🐣🐣🐣.
