It’s been 24 hours since I last gambled, in the last 24 hours I’ve changed my bank to one that allows you to block payment to gambling websites admire joined this group, I’ve also join GamStop. I know I’ve got a long road ahead but is there any suggestion on what to do, to over come this. Any advise would be appreciated. I’ve been going on for a year and half and it’s time I finally put an end to this horrible habit.

What do people do to take there minds off it ??

Thank you

Hi Freya,

First of all well done, it’s a bit step admitting you have a problem.

Have a look at gamban a software for devices which blocks everything gambling related. It’s free on this site for 12 months if you contact a member of the gamcare team and they’ll send you the link.

Wishing you well

Today has been easier then I thought, maybe because I’m been at work all day, so I haven’t even thought about it. I think my hardest thing will be Friday which is payday. I think if I can keep my self busy and as far from boredom as possible, I might be ok.  ??????

But what can I do ??

What does everyone else do to keep there minds occupied. Which doesn’t involve spending money.  I want to try and save as much money as possible to start paying my debts off quicker. I think then I’ll be less encouraged to gamble as I won’t be chasing my loses anymore ?????? My aim is 24 months rather then 5 years.  I did debate getting an Iva, when I was feeling low the other day, but I don’t want that over me for the next 6 years. If I can keep my self from gambling I can get through it with out needing one!! So my plan is to come on here every day or when I feel an urge and read people’s success stories for getting over this!! Xx

Key to keeping occupied is to plan.

walks, keeps you fit, clears ya mind, keeps you away from sports and it’s free.

theres loads of stuff to keep you busy for free, keeping fit is a big free one and gives you a goal...go on a diet, lift weights? Go meet family you haven’t seen for a while, do it on “peak “ gambling times.

Netflix , if you are staying , box sets, keep off the internet .

good luck

Good luck ive just fell off the wagon getting close to 100 days GF, its having the easy access. Leave your card at home and just carry a credit card. Also ban from all online sites if you havent already as these are vacuums of money.

Thank you everyone đŸ™‚Â

I’ve signed up to gamstop and switched to monzo bank because they have a block gambling thing so I can’t use it for online gambling.

I’ve just subscribed to Netflix so if you’ve got any good ideas for box sets let me know ?

Thank you to everyone that’s given me great advice the last couple of days đŸ™‚Â

I’ve subscribed to Netflix so any ideas on great box sets to watch would be great đŸ™‚Â

Today’s been great, which I’m surprised at. I’ve kept my self busy and this afternoon rather then normally gambling online I had a nap ? so by the time I woke up the urge had gone! I’ve found leaving my phone down stairs when I got to bed a great help!.  My evenings are hard and I know will be a struggling as I spend quite abit of time by my self. Like tonight the soaps have ended and I’ve found my self on my phone, so instead of gambling I thought I’d come on here and read some positive stories to keep my mind in the right place.

Taking 1 day at a time and this group is amazing !

Many of us gamble through boredom or to fill time.

You need to find something to replace the time you spent gambling.

Fitness / sport is great to both occupy yourself, tire you out and improve your mental well being.

What about a running group, or couch to 5k as a starter. If you can't run, what about a walking group. At least this time of year the evenings are light.

What about studying something ? Either for work or just pleasure. Night school, language, cookery classes, car maintanence, whatever.

Wow!! How good it feels to hit the 1 week mark, hopefully more to come aswell ? focusing on the 2 weeks mark now!! Today’s been harder. We got paid today but thankfully in 4 days my bank will be moved over to a bank that blocks gambling so I’m nearly there now. I don’t ever gambling in shops, just online so this will be a huge help for me !!

Gonna be a long evening tonight, because of payday but I’ve paid all my bills so I’ve got them sorted. So I’m gonna put my phone away now and try watch the soaps have a bath and then go to bed.
