It sounds as if you have had a day full of reflective thoughts. We all get those days every now and then and I treat them as days when stronger barriers are raised in our fight against gambling once we get through to the end of them.

It's all about being very wary of our stupid pasts and making sure that we never, ever put ourselves in this position again.

No worries about your comment on my other thread, I have taken your name off the list. At the end of the day, it is for people who are desperate to make 2012 their year like myself and set themselves as best a foundation for the rest of their lives. There have been a couple of occasions for me this month when I had fleeting thoughts about "entertaining" myself but thoughts of being removed from the list put those thoughts firmly to bed.

And to me that can only be a very good thing. There is no shame at being removed from the list as at the end of the day we are all here to support each other. Having said that, if you did give in to those thoughts and went back to the gambling world, would you be ashamed? I know that I would. I would have let my family down, my future down and my friends down.

And most of all, I would have let MYSELF down.

So whatever thoughts you may be having during your reflective day, I really hope that you will be able to deal with them in the right way. You have been around long enough to know what to do so please make sure that you make all the right choices.

For yourself!

Enjoy your evening and just think back to all of your successes as opposed to those failures in the past.

Thanks GT

There's no malice meant in coming off the list. I just felt bad for some people that have slipped lately. As for reflective thoughts it's not around gambling. It's deeper and possible better. As for gambling my only chance of gambling is a very long journey as I'm self excluded. Online gambling for whatever reason just doesn't excite me like bookies, so no chance there. I've often thought about blocking software but I can honestly say I would not gamble online. I feel sorry for those that do as it apears more volatile than bookies!

Thanks again

Take care

thought provoking posts there from you Smiler...patience is something I have to learn as I have none...have to trust the processs..

You have the self discipline to be considered and

not rush your recovery which is a lesson to all...

With you on the reflective thoughts too ....also go under the surface and come out the other side with more self understanding...Know Thyself ....take care '

I, too, feel really bad for those who have slipped. But we must be very grateful that they have been honest with themselves and came back on here straight away so that they can concentrate on starting their journeys again.

Smiler, trust me. Online gambling IS brutal! I am just so, so glad that it only lasted for a couple of months for me.

If you thought FOBTs were bad, online is definitely ten times worse.

Thanks for the warning GT. I can honestly say I would not be partaking in online gambling at all. I find it hard to understand how someone could do it. Which is totally contradictory to what I am about. Strange world.

Thanks again

I have been around this forum for a while now and I must say I feel this is the most harmonious I have felt it ever. Long may it last. Truthful posts telling each other in a kind way how it really is.

Thanks everyone

Hi ,

We have always been very honest with each other and I believe have a mutual respect for each other. So with the greatest respect I am going to say what I see. Both of us have always discussed what we need to do to ensure we stay in recovery for a lifetime. Both of us have talked about giving this site a bit of a rest , both of us found this to be detrimental .

Both of us I believe can spot the trigger that may put us back in that bad place. I think if you read back your diary you will see that you are working too hard. You need a break , even be it for a few days. Take a step back and relax , evealuate how far you have come, which in my eyes is a long way. Pat yourself on the back and continue onward on this very hard journey, of trying to deal with life.

I

Ike everyone else really care about you and your well being.

If I have overstepped the mark I am truly sorry,

Dusty

Sorry but I had to add.

You really made me chuckle , just now.

Self exclude on jasmine thread, if only you could have written it in red. It was like the cyber equivalent of giving someone a good shake.

I know it was not supposed to be funny , but it did tickle me (after the day I have had I needed that tickle)

Hi Guys

No other CG could overstep the mark no matter what they said. DF you are 100% correct. It will be done sooner than later, I'll jiggle the books and get some time. As for the message on a certain thread it was done to try and engage the guy. Hopefully he will respond even if he makes a comment. It is a shame but that is gambling for you. It's funny because yesterday I was thinking I'm not working hard enough. My wife even said don't be so stupid. The mind of a CG at least I know who and what I am!

Take care

Hey Smiler...keep warm too out there in the elements...blummin arctic today....

Thanks for posting ...yes AA...a realisation that is not based in denial ,as almost disappointed to not be able to attach the label....

Still no urges anyway so still going to do ODAAT but probably going to cut down onn weekly meetings as doing 4/5.

Have some more thoughts on this but will hop on my own diary to not hog yours.

Don't know why we feel we don't do enough even when we do the job of ten men...trying to pace myself too but it is so hard to not take on so much..

take care Smiler....all doing well on our recovery journeys....

..take care..

Hi Smiler

Thanks for taking the time to post on my thread and its great to have your support. I suppose like you, when i have money invested on a sporting event I can't take my eyes off it. When there's no money involved how important is it really??

Look after yourself and long may your recovery continue.

Hi Smiler,

Thanks for the support on my diary, thought i would add my twopenneth worth on yours.

Although I only know you from your posts it seems you are handling your recovery on your terms right now, at your pace and in your way. That can only be a good thing.

All those reflections on your thoughts are good, I often here people say things like 'you think too much' as the swirl of emotions goes around my head. Actually i believe that most people don't think enough and analysing and discussing your emotions in an open way is the only true way to emotional understanding.

I think some posters who perhaps know more about this than me have suggested that you should not work yourself into the ground and I would agree, easy to say and write of course much harder to actaully put into action!

Take an easy and safe path towards the weekend

Paul

We can only try and get our message through to certain people.

But if they don't response to the message or even acknowledge then....
