just dropping by to say that I am ok. We have been without a phoneline for a few weeks, and I haven't had a private place to log on to gamcare.

I have gambled twice since last I posted, but thankfully not to devastating effect. I am working on it! I'm not out of pocket, but of course that is not the point.

I believe that the really bad weather has triggered the urge in me, and I stupidly acted on it. Its been hard to get out and about for weeks now ( it was -10 today!) and I felt cooped up and bored. No excuse, but just explaining where it came from.

Have had loads of urges since of course, so Im living with the legacy that 'just one little flutter' leaves. It just disturbs my peace and contentment.

Generally all is well in my world.

Hi f... good to see you back posting again. I totally relate to the sorts of things that you say triggered your gambling. The weather the environment and how it all gets me feeling in myself has often been a trigger for me in the past.

On a positive am glad to hear that the financial damage wasn't to great... keep working at it.. peace and contentment will return.. S.A 🙂

Freda (K)

Sorry you had a lapse, I'm a serial lapser and I know how bad it feels. There is a moment for all of us who try as hard as you to quit that t all clicks into place.

Now on day 121 for me and hate the idea of gambling with more than the passion that I used to have for it.

Don't let that evil c r ap get the better of you again! You can do it!

Your friend

David

Hi guys, thanks to everyone for their posts 🙂

I wouldn't use the word 'spiralled' but yes, have been gambling still. I am now out of pocket, couldn't leave it while I was up (could I ever?) and now down, and hoping for better success with abstinence.

I fell for the classic worrying about money being tight thing - and of course now its even tighter!

I don't want to act like I did nothing wrong, but I'm not massively out of pocket which is something.

I've had my debit card more often lately, due to hubby working late and me having christmas gifts to buy. I know I could have just got him to get cash out for me, but the more convenient option of just having my card was tempting.

I know I am definitely reacting emotionally to Christmas too - I hate it! I love hubby's lot and feel very comfortable with them. I just don't like spending time with my own family. In 2 weeks time it will all be over til next year, thank goodness.

So I'm back in recovery, and hoping to do better.

Hi Freda, thanks for popping in on my diary:),i was only wondering the other day if you had settled in to your flat ok.

Sorry to read that you have been gambling,i can understand though that this time of year is stressful (like you i dread it, and find i relax when it's over!!!) you only have to look around the forum to see all the new diaries to realise that for some reason it triggers CG's into gambling!!!.Have as nice a time as you can:).

Hi f

Thank you for your very kind post on my diary, made me smile reading that 🙂

Hope you're feeling ok after your recent blip but you know what to do now. Pick yourself up, dust yourself down and kick it into touch.

Take care

thank you guys 🙂

we are totally loving our new flat. It is a palace compared to where we were living, and I've enjoyed having people over without feeling embarrassed at the state of it!

It has just been really expensive as you can probably imagine. Add to that buying christmas presents and we have been sweating on payday coming! I would say that money worries are my strongest trigger. Stupid considering gambling has never, not once eased them!

So today is day 2. I am really tired of P*ssing about with this, the odd dabble here and there, wasting my time. Ive found total abstinence hard, but I am determined to *** it.

It would be lovely to make 2011 totally gamble-free.

Hi f.. glad your enjoying your home. I think that if your happy in your home then everything else will follow from that. As for me I like my little flat.. its a haven.. it makes my own personal struggles in life a little easier.

I totally relate to the gambling urges due to "wanting more money"... pure and simple.. but like you say, it NEVER works out that way. Keep fighting them thoughts.. S.A 🙂

Hi Freda.. your not stupid, its just a tough time of year... christmas, the family stuff, financial presures, the weather, the lack of sunlight. The gambling head loves this time of year.

Try to put things into perspective.. you havent killed anyone, you got a home and a loving partner, so even if youve lost a bunch of money its not the end of the world. Manage your feelings as best you can and when it all gets a bit much.. have a nap. Maybe post a bit more to.. it focusses the mind and can distract away from urges to gamble.

Sorry if i sound like a patronizing git.. but try to be good to yourself.. easier said than done.. am a fine one to talk sometimes. Take care.. S.A

P.s If all else fails there's a new luxury hotel thats just opened in Paris.. you can pamper yourself for 20,000 euro's a night.. bargain! 😉
