Hi Freda.. I can imagine the frustration at not being called back.

As for what to say when they do eventually call you back depends upon how you want to play it and how you feel.

My situation was this... I said to them that i had a gambling addiction which is true of course and also a recognised mental disorder with many health authorities. I says to them that the stress of my work ( working for a rehab which i then was) had led me to relapse and therfore I took the decsion to resign as my mental health had to come first... which was all true. However I also said that I was fit and able to work just not in the field or type of work i was then in.

They accepted what i said without penalising me.. which they do have the power to do if they feel that you resigned for no valid reason. I guess your options are either..

a. Take a similar line to what I did.. ie the job was too stressful and may lead to anxiety attacks or gambling relapse.. BUT you are fit and able to work just not that type of job and maybe support this with a docs letter or

b. Try to get onto employment support allowance (the old incapacity benefit). If you decided to do this it might help to get some advice from the citizens advice bureau. You might what to go to CAB anyway and talk through your options.

Anyway well done for keeping gambling at bay. Things will work out in time. Take care.. S.A 🙂

Thanks SA

Things will work out, I'm just in a funk.

Even if nothing else seems to be going right, the gambling free days continue to mount up. I take some solace in that.

Today was day 58 and I did not gamble.

Way to go Freda. As long as we don't gamble we are in with a chance of survival whatever comes our way. Take care and keep posting!

Hi f

Hope you get some sort of response today from the bureaucrats.

Fortunately I don't have many dealings with that lot in my personal life, but do have to interact, if that's the right word, in my professional one.

Seem to have two paces, stop and very slow! Oh and of course backwards!

Keep up the non gambling, well done.

M

Hi Freda . I was concerned for you tonight . Don`t think I have seen you feeling so bad . Blinking demons in our heads . For me , far from well yet a whole lot better than last year . I can`t even go to the cinema let alone have a panic attack in one .

The only time I go out on foot is when the lovely Ange is with me . Then it has to be for a short time . The noise , the wierdos , the tattooed meat heads just gets me into a panic .

The major contact with the world in online or telephone . To think I used to play to sometimes a large audience . Oh well .

I feel I do understand where you are coming from . Do not be ashamed certainly with us , cyber friends . I so empathise .

My blood boils to see you young `uns , with degrees struggling to get work . A far cry from my younger days . Just another part of the social engineering we have forces on us .

As for the JSA people , they are usually c*****s . I jumped through hoops to get the bit of money off the government after 40 years of paying in . Thankfully , even when pretty low , I have an anger streak that serves me well . Don`t mess with Grizzly Uncle Graham . It is about the only thing these untalented people understand .

I believe that anger is a great positive force if channeled well . If it is not acted on and internalised it becomes depression .

Freda , you have amazing input on GC . You are bright and let no one tell you different .

Times are dreadful for many but what do we get , self interested toffs telling us what to do . Well they can take a running jump . f , you are you and I like what I see.

Love Graham

Thank you Graham 🙂

To quote a song, I was stuck in a moment and couldn't get out of it.

I'm ok now, well you know, ish. Have swapped hysteria for a vomiting bug unfortunately, so may not be in chat tonight if still hugging the porcelain.

That was a lovely post, it raised my spirits 🙂

I am generally pretty strong these days, and have coped with a lot for a long time. Once in a while I have a meltdown, then dust myself off and get back on with it.

I certainly will Sam

I am well and truly f*****g sick. Had to kick a** on the phone today, to get a benefit decision. I was shaking with anger, and at one point told the call centre monkey to f**k off and hung up on them. I was proper unhinged. That is the only f*****g way you can get through to these despicable people.

Finally someone rang and said it was very unlikely I would get dole as I didn't have enough contributions in the relevant tax years. f*****g sick. It is completely impossible to get on your feet in this country. I have been hysterical most of the day, and am now sitting on a valium cushion.

Going to the doctors to get signed on the sick ASAP. I'll go on ESA I don't give a f**k. Shame if I had just had reasonable treatment in my last job and from the DWP I wouldn't be in this f*****g state.

I pushed myself harder than I should have to try and stay in work , and it makes no f*****g difference to these utter c**ts. f**k everything. Seriously, I have had enough.

I am not working, I am going to stay in f*****g bed and get smelly. Don't give a s**t if I starve, I'm just not fighting anymore.

I'm not f*****g gambling either.
