Hi markie

Welcome aboard and well done on day 3

Once we let go of the losses and wasted time and everything else that gambling gave us we choose then to say NO MORE

You have already started saying no more by going 3 days and by taking one day at a time you can carry on saying no more

You cannot win because you cannot stop so gambling is a pointless waste of time but each day you don't play you will WIN and that is sooo positive for you

Keep strong determined and be positive with yourself

Best wishes

Suzanne x

Day 4 done and dusted! Few urges today but thanks to the support of people on here I am slowly equipping myself with the tools I need to fight them.

came clean to all in the office today about how much I lost in my last binge on sunday. Think the reactions of shock and a little bit of disgust were exactly what I needed. I work in a role where integrity is essential so If I don't quit now this could cause me big problems in the future.

Hoping for a steadier day tomorrow, thanks again to all.

Hi mark, well done on day 4 and especially for mentioning things in your workplace. That's something I wouldn't dare doing but I'm sure it will aid you in your recovery. What things are you doing to keep urges at bay? I like to put my phone down in my room and go somewhere different maybe a bike ride or walk. If weather is bad read a book or play a game either on phone or laptop or with your little one (I don't have that same joy). All the best.

Thanks for the support guys. Got through the day gamble free but It was a cr** day at work and normally this would have led me straight for a bet to give me that pick me up. I didn't, but must admit to missing it - it was that secret world where I could get lost and forget the world, that is until I lost control and the ability to stop. I cannot mourn for that world now when things are tough because I have spoilt it for myself.

Regarding dealing with the urges, I haven't had any massive ones so far but I think that's because I have very little cash at my disposal and I know my main challenge is the new football season. Hopefully I will be a few weeks clean by then and able to withstand the inevitable overpowering urge for just a little bet. But this site and the amazing people on it are giving me more coping tools each day 🙂

Awright mate, chin up and keep up good work.i am missing it myself but the thought of how I felt on sun after losing big is not worth thinking about.feeling really bored as wife watching all her soaps

And I would normally be sitting betting any sport to keep me occupied but have nothing to do now.its so so hard.going to go back to stuff that kept me happy before gambling at age of 13 and thats getting online for my PlayStation 3 and using that to keep busy.a bit sad but if it works it will do me. Day 6 will be as hard as any for us both mate but we can do it,jst think even if we win 20k or 50k it would end up back to them anyway mate.

Yes you're right I know, there can only be one winner if we bet and it won't be us. Even though there's no proper footy tomorrow it's still Saturday which is a danger day for me because I finish work at 3 and would normally get some bets on then come home and get on the beers and watch the scores. That can't happen anymore and it won't. Stay strong mate 🙂

Day 6 done and dusted. The hardest one yet with it being a Saturday and found myself looking through the friendly scores and getting that 3pm feeling where all that matters is the teams I have bet on. I love Saturday afternoons so much but need to find a way to enjoy them without gambling. May have to stay away from watching the scores for a while.

Felt so down at work this morning, gave everyone the cold shoulder-the fact is my job is so unfulfilling I crave more responsibility and I am starting to see that this has played a massive part in me seeking solace in gambling to gain some s(false) sense of self worth. I need to change jobs for the good of my recovery but the problem is its reasonably well paid and as I am now up to my eyes in debt its a no go for at least two years.

The one thing I can control is my recovery, and to that end I will not gamble tomorrow.
