A belated Happy 29th Birthday. I haven't been posting for a few days and was just catching up. I ready about your Oscars night out with great sadness. For weeks now my wife has been asking me what I would like from Santa and I have been telling her to get me anything other than a watch.

That was a quote from your last message, and yes I totally agree. I have been thinking the same thing, last 8 years. Ok, I will just save 2 grand more, then a couple months later.. 3 grand more would be better.. You are right. If you wantto do it do it now. Right now.

Firsly happy belated birthday Shiny...I read your post about the expectations we have of ourselves...

Keep snapping that bar and take the pressure off.... write your own script hun and make sure you get your needs met in a healthy way...align yourself with folks who can also give back to you in a way you recognise and can feel good about..

Other people are loved for just being themselves and you are no exception.

Your post was so good to read and i for one could take alot from that, i wish i could be where you are and break that bloody bar but for me it's still a work in progress but seeing that you have broken that down has given me hope for the future and i thank you for that!

This is my smoke free cuddle. I am on day 12 of no smoking, which has prevented me from smoking in the region of 120 cigs saving me almost £50 in the process. The hard part is over. The challenge as always is having a drink without a cig. I keep reminding myself that nine months ago I couldn't go a day without walking into a bookies and since then I have re-worked my brain to be able to get on and enjoy life without gambling. Now I must do the same with smoking. How do I know I can't drink without smoking - I have never tried it. Not really. I go on holiday on Thursday and hope to return smoke free. Then I will defo be on my way. I would love to finish this year ten months gamble free and six weeks smoke free. That is where I am heading.

P.S. Can't believe they are still making paper weights let alone giving them away at funtions to their star employees.

I went Xmas shopping today . I fact I went twice , came home with one lot and went back for more lol

Have always found Xmas very stressfully , there have been years when I have panicked about the money , ( seeing that I had lost gambling and was struggling to make ends meet)

Then there's the old , urges to recoup the several hundred pounds you have just spent . Been there done that more times than I care to remember , although I do remember not recouping , just adding to the stress of it all .

Today was different , today yep I spent several hundred , today the noise and crowds did not bother me as much as they usually do . Today I never once had an urge to gamble .

I was pleased with my purchases , got a couple of .....

Cra cking deals , so felt I had had a result anyway .

Or maybe just maybe today I won the battle against my addiction , who knows .

Do not get me wrong , that bank card and the 3 others are stashed back in there safe place, out of harms way .

This most certainly is not a post saying ypieeeee I am cured , I will never be cured , and the day I think I am will be a day I recon I would live to regret .

This post is for all those struggling , worrying about how they are going to get through Xmas , stick with it friends , if you do next year will be easier, and the year after that , and the year after that .

Gamble and all you will get is more of the same , no brainier really .:-)

Well you know me and Xmas!! This year I feel I will love it even more. Why? For some of the same reasons you mentioned in your post. I didn't have a mini heart attack spending money, I didn't have the urge to 'win' it back. I didn't get the urge to fight people in Debenhams for getting in the way.

Like you said it's one up for you against the addiction. No cure just a middle finger up to it for that day 🙂 feels better than any win we ever had I say.

It appears you kept getting another year older pretty quiet. So, I will say a belated Happy Birthday. With your current rate of progress I reckon the years will be decreasing from now on, stress levels down, more smiles, be like the curious case of Shiny Button. Not sure that works but it's still early for me.
