hi wp,

as always, thanks for your posts and comments (prompted me to write a novel almost, in response !!)

I understand how you felt on saturday, and am glad you had a great day, and felt confident enough to tell your friends about your addiction, and got a positive reaction, i remember when i stopped drinking, and wondered how i would ever cope going into a pub - but like you, i told my closest friends, and it worked out fine.

Hope you get to see your wee ones on thursday,( and your right - sometimes when we stop chasing something, its really interesting to see if it comes back to you ......)

Hi wp, the fact that you told the entire bus is another step in your recovery. I often bang on about barriers, whether they be physical, emotional or mental. You created two large barriers on Saturday. Firstly, you went to a race meeting and didn't feel the need to gamble. Secondly, you told a whole bus load of your friends! Now that they all know, do you want to let them down? I hope you get to see the kids on Thursday....you are making progress. Russ

Hi Winningpost!

Many thanks for posting on my diary mate. Always appreciated!

Mate - thank you so much for sharing your story about your day to the races. That was fantastic! Good for you Winningpost - delighted to hear you had a great time. You deserve it and so much more.

That is brilliant you told everyone on the bus too - I am sure you had the total respect of every person on that bus because your progress is nothing short of spectacular mate, it really is.

I really hope your invite to call round on Thursday for a few hours goes ahead mate. I know this will give you a massive boost.

As always Winningpost - many congratulations on your amazing progress and thank you again for sharing your wonderful story - I couldn't be happier for you.

Fingers crossed for Thursday too mate!

Take care,

Micky D

Winningpost,

Perhaps I'm reading too much into things at the moment, but seeing your consistently outstanding effort in supporting other people alongside a reduced posting on your own diary... makes me feel for you. You are going through the ringer at the moment.

Just wanted to say that you are doing everything right and are doing great. Keep it up. In a couple of years time, you will look back on these days as the days that made you the strong person that you will be. (not sure grammatically how many tenses I included there lol)

Keep it up,

Brian

thank you so much brian,T a G,ands, micky, unlucky, russ, tommi, blues, seano, curly and simon...brian its all about having the time mate....im in library today....in bygone days my time would be spent you know where but i find if i can come on here as regulary as possible it helps keep the gremlins away...in september my bank issued a new card and told me to cut up the old one...fair enough but after several attempts down the city centre branch complaining of no pin number for hole in the wall i decided to take it further...i wrote a letter of complaint to head office complaining that almost 8 weeks with no pin was unacceptable...yesterday my friends i got a wee bit compensation for my inconvenience...payday loan from satday now paid off 😉 a right reeeeesult !!! 😀 it just shows we CAN take on these large chains,we may be the tiniest of fish in massive pond but 9 times out of 10 in the past i wouldnt have bothered one little bit or EVEN gambled the compensation for MORE...we cannot win cause we cannot stop !!!...spare a thought for tommi friends, his urges are very strong at the minute...today i wont bet tomorrow i wont bet,we can do this folks 🙂

hi wp,

thanks for your posts, comments and advice, i never cease to be amazed at just how lucky i am to have found this site, and to have been able to meet and talk to friends in similar circumstances, like your goodself.

i am pleased to say i sat the "will he, or won't he" test today - cash in hand, what would i do with it ?

the right thing - thats what! - shopping complete, pockets considerably lighter, and so happy to have got through a testing time - this week the worlds strongest magnet (how i sometimes imagine gambling addiction) had its beady eye on me, and with help and advice from wonderful people like yourself, i was able to shake its magnetic spell off.

So its back to business as usual, everything is in place to build on my recovery, and i feel much stronger today.

thanks for being there wp, much appreciated.

hope all goes well tonight.

tommi
