300 days! That is an unbelievable achievement. You have my full respect and admiration.

It's amazing when reading these diaries the tone of the entries improves gradually over time, showing how putting this behind us day by day gives us a little boost on confidence and happiness.

It won't be long now til you're celebrating a year free. I love reading success stories and this is certainly one of them. Well done. It's no longer a diary of shame, as you called it, but a diary of success.

Aww shucks Taxi man, thank-you for noticing…I am a laydee, I do laydee’s things like shopping an Zumba!

So, there I was sitting at the lights, minding my own business, listening to Magic FM when what appears to be a Citroen Saxo with an Airfix spoiler and lots of ‘cool’ stickers, driven by a spotty 12 year old with girl’s hair, pulls up alongside me. I have to look twice as at first glance, I can’t decide whether he is sat in the driver’s seat or the passenger’s & whether his head is bobbing by choice or just in response to what appears to be someone in the boot with a hammer pounding out ‘tunes’ even the dead could hear. It takes a second but then the penny drops, he can’t see through his fringe but he can hear my baby (she thinks she’s a TVR you know) and he wants a race. What was a girl to do…Burn her clutch out trying, that’s what 😉 I barely had time to laugh @ the ridiculous spinning alloys as it disappeared into my rear view mirror! It may have a hole in the exhaust but my car @ least cost more than the price of an MOT & I sure can drive!

Not sure that cranking my radio up will ‘solve’ this problem ;-( I might have to get the push bike out of hibernation! I don’t think I should drive her anymore. Only if it’s really cold, or it’s raining or snowing and stuff. Actually, I feel a bit of a sweat coming on, may have to take the car after all 😉

& here comes the gambling bit...I can afford both a new car & to get it fixed but I still can't bear the thought of spending money!

The quack reckons I'm 'stressed' (all the bloods came back clear & I have a clean bill of health) "nothing unusual" he hastened to add as he tore off a self referral form for CBT from a pre-printed pad! I went on the website & filled in the form but when I answered "not to feel tired & thirsty anymore" in the 'What do you hope to achieve?' box, I figured that it's probably not for me!

Recovery is still wonderful but it's work in progress & I'll take that any day!

Congrats on 300 days Juuuunie!!!

A great achievement! You were wasting your talents when gambling. You were hiding them away. Your writings are hilarious. Enjoy Day 300.

Hiya ODAAT, I went to my GP and told him one minuteI I feel like a Wigwam the next minute I feel like a Teepee..he said the trouble with you Ginge is you're 'two tents'....he then said have you Vertigo..I said no I only live around the corner...sorry Junie I morphed into Bob Monkhouse for a moment there.

seriously I went to my Docs, surprise surprise 6 months ago when I decided to put myself first, I was suffering from, headaches, vertigo, thirst, low energy, insomnia, tiredness, sinus pain, irritable bowel, and general aches and pains mainly back..when without any examination my doc gave me a one word diagnosis...'Water', or lack of it in my case, he told me to drink at least 2 litres a day and return in 2 weeks if the symptoms persisted..they didn't so I didn't..I was cured, so all this H2o combined with this new found gamble free lifestyle I feel marvellous 🙂 ..it's worth a try Junie...I dunno about June Whitfield..more like Penelope Pitstop to me 😉

thanks for making recovery so much fun ODAAT...OAU.....Ginger.

Hey Ooodat,

How are you? Always lovely to hear from you. Many thanks for your post - really lifted me up. When I read your diary and comments on other people's I can almost hear your positive and bubbly voice in my mind. You are like sunshine on here. Keep it shining as, like me, I am sure it warms any person fortunate to enough to feel its warmth! Thank you.

Hello Juuunie,

Well, seems like i am waking up from that deep hibernation this lovely summer and just now realised that i left something very important behind! And that's planning a GC gathering :-0
Soo..we are in Juuune..that's a good timing lol.
Now we also know more about what our bride to be likes on her free time so i come up with idea which sure will be suitable for all of us. What about the gathering at the gym!!!! Ok ok...our Blondie can keep that duster at the ready just in case she needs to pretend she is shining those mirrors so we won't glance at our reflections :-D..Now...we are missing few soldiers here, but my invitations been sent out and i hope we will sort something out for those parking spaces (warrior Xena's carriage).
After embarrasing dancing away like there is no tomorrow we will have to jump on the GC's bus (will get it sorted with lovely admin) and head to our original meeting place - Lundin!.. Now...i will need to count ya all so everyone is on board (but thats ok since i have my paper pad with me everywhere i go..never leave work place that is lol).
Bob the builder will have a job on his hands making a little banners with those golf balls jars painted all over them saying "Recovery is possible!"...Ginge will be perfectly tanned by now ( 😉 ) so no fear of getting sun burn! We might need to work a little on our chef's haircut. If it's hot, we will have to make sure no hair gel/spray been used so no fire extinguishers will b needed in case of emergency :-)))
I'm sure mr Phoenix will keep us all safe from the trouble (not if we are danger to society) plus i can imagine plenty of bleugh will be on the menu on the day! Well, as day progresses and we will still find ourselves in those comfy trainers, (not sure how about you all but since I'm multi skilled, i will find time for the shower lol) we might as well give it a go to the park run! ...it's strangely turning out to a boot camp by the looks of it lol, but hell - healthy body - healthy mind huh!
I'm sure ya don't mind me inviting many more folks from this safe place (gotta send ya the expenses for the flight tickets to get few soldiers from over the pond! Now Soulie is a grilling master and i am more than sure that she and Duncs put together will make something fantastic to dig in! 🙂
So good to know we have team Suzzzzane with ever so growing members in place cause sure we will be guided what to do/not to do and leave park in perfect condition as we find it!
To me it sounds like a plan! Of course we can choose a lot simpler way to get together and just sit peacefully in that sun or shade, sharing our successful stories in this battle and waiting for that sunset knowing that another day of freedom is lined up and we're doing it!

Me can compromise lol..just give us a shout what ya all think about it!

Anything is possible! :-)))))))

Today I am grateful for realising that Junie and coo coo didn't take the easy option but took their lives in their hands on their celebratory day out.

Today i am grateful that June and Sandra won't ever frequent said rink again.

sorry for the plagiarism Gamcarers, :-/

Seriously Juuuune that is 'product placement' of the highest order...we all have to spend a penny, some more than others, ladies who lunch and have hairnets masquerading as bladders for example:-)..so placing a fruity right outside a loo is tantamount to entrapment..they know some will spend more than a penny:-( ...thankfully not you and Sandra so it's a perfect 10 scorecard to you both from the Ginger judge;-)

Whilst in Holland we spent a lovely day in Amsterdam, my daughter remarked that they had every shop we have at home and some we no longer have like C&A even a Miss Sixty which apparently is harder to find than finger marks on blondies conservatory windows :-)..ah haaa! I said in my best Alan Partridge there's one they haven't got..after 10 mins of pondering they all gave up...you've got it Gamcarers..a bookies.

We saw casinos on our travels but you had to go seek them out you didn't just stumble across one, likewise with the adult area and with a 10,7,and 5 year old in our family we were concerned that one wrong turn and we could end up in completely the wrong place but we didn't have to worry because you had to seek that out too (just as well according to Mrs Ginge that's not good for my BP either :-)..i am not a blanket ban merchant for gambling, far from it i accept every bean I've ever placed has been my decision but I do feel the Dutch governments approach to gambling more responsible..because as NT said there are some folk who pop out for a loaf of bread and come home with no dough at all...if the Dutch can do it why can't we?...PS Juuuuune just what kinda cheese was that ? :-)))) OAU...Ginger
