So, I bought a new car :-0 Not a Nissan Qashqai (the NM completely had a point about my 'parking' although I maintain that to suggest I had abandoned my car on the drive was a little harsh), not an Audi A1 S line (with a number plate that was nearly my initials), nor the VW Golf (that was my initials) but a twee little Up that my new bezzie has suggested resembles a child's pushchair (huh, what does she know the crazy coo coo)! If it were a buggy, it would be the Silver Cross equivalent! £0 road tax, group not very high insurance, 0-60 sometimes, it cost less than half the price of the nearest competitor & @ 40 years & 4 days younger than me, it is also a lot younger than any of them (winner)!

Am I happy with it? I wasn't! All that money gone, for what, something I had already...It just didn't feel right! I didn't 'earn' it & everyone knows as a gambler we can only spend our winnings! I know I never would have won enough for a car (new or otherwise) but it's a mindset I'm working on eradicating!

I drove it into work kicking myself about the cruise control that the ad had promised me but the car didn't have & the heated seats on the next model up which I could have gotten albeit with a few more miles on the clock for similar money. Always wanting more! I've now done some more research & those heated seats would have cost half the price of the car again & then I'd have to relinquish the sunroof! Which, some might say is a little old fashioned but in actual fact with the sunroof open & the heating on full blast, it's like eating salted AND sweet popcorn mix or a clear blue ocean on a hot Summer's day! In short, now that I'm over the shock of parting with some real spondoolies, I love it 🙂 & even more importantly, I love the fact that no self respecting boy racer will ever feel the need to come knocking on my door offering to buy my exhaust (letting the builder reposition it wasn't the best idea I've ever had, who knew you could make a hole bigger by revving the nuts out of it)!

Whilst I struggle to spend anything, Mother on the other hand has been busy working her way through about £25,000 in the past couple of months 🙁 She's got a few bits of tut to show for it & some new electrics in the flat that she pays no rent on but not a penny spent on anyone else other than Mr Gamble!

That would have been me!

Thank f**k I found recovery!

Hey Junniee, you must be tickled pink with your own new car, another gift from recovery that would not have been possible if you were still in the grip of Mr G, but your hard work on your recovery journey is worth it, you deserve this, but I totally understand about spending on ourselves, I struggle at times with actually having money, (it panics me sometimes which is absurd I know lol).

Keep walking on and keep winning, it's the only sane way to go.

Thanks for your encouraging post on my diary ODAAT and for sharing your recovery diary. A great read!

You sound in a really good place and that inspires me and should inspire others as we can all do this if we truly truly want to and are willing to work at it.

Keep up the good work and thanks again.

Hi Junnieee,

Hey I cooked another 2 full English brekkies after that one lol, bought a new frying pan from market though to help me along lol, you know the one, white enamel,(eggs don't stick and you don't even need oil ohh HDs indeed with my new pan, lol.

Great to see you staying clean and dry, because gambling really is a waste of our lives, and that saying is sooo very true, life really is too short,

Have a great Sunday,

Hi ODAAT,

Thanks so much for your recent support on my diary, it dragged me kicking back here, which is something I may have missed and let go over the last few months. I'll try and give you more updates that have a bit more energy and positivity going forward.

Hope you're loving your new car, I used to have an Aygo for a while which was a similar size, enjoy smugly telling your friends how much road tax you're paying, and how good the mpg is!

Hi ODAAT,

This is my third attempt at replying - the computer crashed both times last week!

Thanks for following my progress and for rememberingmy 11 month anniversary, which was yesterday. Im not so hard on myself at the mo, actually Ive got other things o worry about and ive only got 2 fingers and a thumb to type with at present. We're leaving in 6weeks so all energy is now devoted to getting ready.

You're not doing so badly yourself BTW. I hope you're enjoying the new car! Isnt it amazing hw quickly (relatively) the finanes improve once we stop gmbling?

Mm

11 months of freedom!!! Awesome work Juuune :-)))
Whoop whoop keep up the good work and keep reaping the benefits recovery gifts!

Few quotes to keep ya on your feet 😛

"Recovery is possible" - by Terry
"OAU" or "OAO" - by Ginge 😀
"HD" - by Blodieeeee

If I'm too early or too late to congratulate on this lovely milestone I'm sure I'm forgiven, (me is no good with maths)..but 333 days sounds like around the time anyway 😀

Keep behaving, winning and drinking bleugh while pushing that buggy!!!
Most importantly be proud for making it happening! Many many more days of freedom heading your way - embrace them :-))))
