Hi Everyone, my name is Oliver and I am currently really struggling with gambling online, mainly live blackjack. I can lose hundreds quickly and recently got myself into £3,000 worth of debt. A really good friend of mine came to my rescue and lent me the money to cover the payday loans I had taken out and I am paying him back over the next few months. Even though I am so grateful and understand that I shouldn't be gambling I still have tonight, and have lost.

I haven't done this before, but this is day 1 of no more gambling for me and any support is hugely welcomed.

Has anyone got any advice on how to take your mind off it? Seems to be most difficult when I have a quiet moment or am bored

Thanks,

Hi Oliver

The best advice I can give is, take one day at a time and put blocks in place when the urge creeps up, believe me, it will. Best of luck pal, I have great confidence in you, why? Well you came on here.

Shaun

Thanks a lot Shaun, yeah trying to take it one day at a time and occupy my mind with other things. I have a great girlfriend and family and my worst fear is for anyone to be hurt as a result

Hi Oliver,

Welcome to the forum. If you are serious about stopping you are going to need help. This is a great first step but you might need more structured help. Just a thought but maybe check out GA? Your worst fear is hurting the ones you love. I can't sugar coat this Oliver so I won't. Hurting the people we love is inevitable if we don't stop and get better. So, you've got your work cut out for you. It's possible to recover from this mess. Hang in there. -joan
