I meant the abuse of starting another diary lol tbh on the gambling front I'm quite pleased I can't remember the last time I did have a bet national weekend maybe? I should be closing in shortly on the previous 142.
I had a few things going on at home but non related to gambling. Just family shizzle you know how it is.
Tbh I don't really need a diary anymore. I just like to pop in and pester you and see how your doing.

Cheers Al it's not something I'm looking for to be honest, I've not got enough disposable income at the minute to wine and dine a lady like any good one would deserve and it might be a bit awkward doing it on the cheap and bring her back to mine cooking diner, my mum would be in her element, I wouldn't get a word in she doesn't shut up, she's like a dripping tap constant and not easy to stop. And as for the bedroom situation it would be a tad a awkward although they is a premier inn round the corner with a Maccie D's over the road, £19 a night, a £3 happy meal got to be cheaper than the other option.

Was just nice to have a chat I'm sure I can make sure I bump into her again.

Great to hear the four legged friend is on the mend was thinking about you but didn't want to ask just incase. Like you not been in here much dipped in the odd day to have a look about but not been posting much at all.

Take care bud a pleasure as always

Hey Alan,

Big thanks for the message last night.

I think at times I am over analysing things but I want to give myself the best shot at not making the same old mistakes I’ve made in the past.

Saying that I do feel like I need to give myself a good shake at times but I guess after years of gambling it is going to take me a while to get used to a gamble free life.

Really appreciate your support as always.

Cheers

Damo

Dear diary , A good friend of mine came back on here last night and posted of giving in to temptation ( if that's the right phrase ?) and to say I was gutted for him was an understatement , when one of yer buddies tells you that it hurts to the core because it could have easily have been me or anyone else on here and brings home the fact that were all just one bet away from the point at which we arrived , or maybe not ? as during the period of abstinance we've still maneged to gather information along the way that we can use to spot the pitfalls and dangers of it happening again .

I count myself very fortunate indeed not to have experienced what my friend went through last night and at times feel a bit of a fraud for even being here to be honest but that being said , I know this place still keeps me safe when I need to be kept safe , many say that day counts don't matter but for me personally I never want that clock to stop , day's when I'm a bit down or just want cheering up I can log on and look at the forward strides I've made in big black numbers in the top right hand corner of my page and find it quite reasssuring at times to know my life's moving forward gamble free .

Some days I can look way off into that future in front of me but on others , I'm looking at my feet and moving forward with pidgeon steps and kinda need a focus and It's another tool that I can use in recovery , just like the triangle but much more visable and I enjoy it's company every single day and one day at a time .

Bit of a ramble but we all know that phrase " Better to ramble than gamble " ( Cheers Martin ) .

Dear diary .

Frustrating week this week , nothing gambling related just found myself getting wound up with people far to easily this week , in my shop mainly ,a few teenage kids being @rsy in the midweek and as it's no longer acceptable to punch em the police were called but they bug.gered off pretty sharpish before they arrived , it wouldn't usually bother me but I find my patience wears a bit thin these days ( maybe an age thing )?, also as per usual ti's the season for every unsavoury character to descend on the streets of my fair city , staggering in drunk with a can of superstrengh in one hand and expecting me to feed them coz theyv'e just spent everything at the offi , then people youv'e known for years that live in the area singing your praises as they walk in , which straight away tells me there after something and then calling you a C nt because you wont lend em a tenner , I'm a pretty good judge of character and when I do let someone have something I'm not usually wrong and they will come back in as promised and settle up but I never stop learning .

Then even this morning two stick thin girls came in , " did I cook the Fish in the same pan as the chips as I'm allergic to fish " " No I don't " my reply , ( me thinking , if your allergic to Fish your dicing with death just walking through the door then aren't you ? ) " What oil do you use " ? " Rapeseed oil " my reply " "Oh , Ok I'll take a small chips then " ( whoopdi , effing doo ) I'm thinking , then they stand there and put loads of ketchup , mayo and then ask " Is the Chip Spice Vegan " ? Well " Its got paprika , salt , garlic and onion in it , so is it ? " My reply . It was at this point that I just wanted to pick up the box of wooden chip forks at the end of the counter and stab her with as many as I could then rub salt and vinegar in her wounds before she ran out of the shop, jeez just get a life will ya , ( see what sort of week I've had ) what ever happened to the good old days of Fish and chips cooked in beef dripping , scraps , loads of salt n vinegar and wrapped in newspaper ? .

I then think of all the events of this week in Nice , where some sick twisted fanatic kills 84 people , mainly kids who are the truly innocent ones amongst us , in the name of religion ? " Yeah right " " Sick f.u~ks " Kinda puts all this poor me shi.te into perspective eh?. " To all in France my thoughts are with you all " xx

I think a lot of this is all due to the wedding approaching in a couple of weeks and I really need to stop stressing otherwise I'm gonna be a nervous wreck by the time it gets here and it's not even me getting married , just thankfull I no longer choose to gamble otherwise I'd have blown a small fortune this week and the wedding fund would have been seriously depleted . :((.

So thats me Mr Stressy , No 13 Stressy street , Stressy town done stressing for the day and still not gambling .

Stay safe everyone and have a great gamble free weekend x

Hi Alan,

Not finding the fact that you are stressing funny in any way but, your description of the vegan's ordering chips had me in stitches! 😀 Btw, the description of old school chips had me salivating. Ain't it the truth?? Do you have a grassy area around your shop? Maybe a sign that says vegetarian all you can eat pointing to the grassy area - kill two birds with one stone. Keep the lawn well manicured and feed the masses.. I will probably get the vegans mad at me now.. Anyway, I hope you are feeling less stressy. xx joan

I'm sure in the old days this would of pushed you to gambling, open the till take the cash out pull the shutters down and head to the nearest safe haven and do your chips so to speak.

Not anymore you have retrained your brain and learnt a better way to deal with the s**t bricks.

Who'd of thought when you signed up to a stop gambling help forum 300 plus days away you would be sharing things like this.

Not long till the big day and I'm sure you will have a fabulous day and like I said "all those months ago on the deleted diary" you will be able to walk down that aisle head held high knowing you are gamble free and proud as punch giving your daughter away.

KTF

I've heard of Bridezilla but never Dadzilla!! It's really not fair to pick on vegans though....living on nuts, and seeds you know they haven't got the strength to defend themselves!!

Sorry to hear you're feeling stressed, but it's good to get it all out. Nothing like a good rant on here to clear your head. I find it very cathartic. Now, step away from the mini wooden weapons and breath....now, back to work. Take care Uncle George xx

Death by chip fork Pops - Lol! Pure evil but I'm a King Edward & beef dripping kinda gal (ish - the gal bit, not the other stuff, that's fact)!

I'm thinking of a curfew campaign for kids (i.e: anyone that wears a hoody (except me), baseball cap in either direction, jeans 5 sizes too small so they can't pull them up past their thighs, skinny black jeans with white sports socks (even the NM would have been beaten up in his day for that), tracksuit bottoms, tracksuit bottoms with one leg rolled higher than the other, tracksuit bottoms tucked into socks, ripped tracksuit bottoms, oh & did I mention tracksuit bottoms (unless they are for sporting purposes), anyone I can hear from the other side of the street, anyone using their mobile phone like we used to have to (Dom Joly styley), anyone hanging round in groups of more than 3 (even if they are purporting to be playing football), anyone shrieking, giggling or generally having a jolly good time for no apparent reason)...a) Can I put your name down (happy to add anyone entering your chippy: drunk, without funds (even prepared to stretch to ones without the right change), vegans (sorry vegans) & people with fish allergies) & b) Do you think I should be looking @ 3 or half past (give the bleeders time to get home from skool)?

Dear diary , oooooooh I had some uncomfortable feelings today , been quite a busy Sunday with talking the boys out for a good walk this morning for a couple of hours , then my daughter popped over to collect some old photo's of herself for the wedding then off to town this afternoon for some clothes shopping and also to get my phone fixed because I found out yesterday on a cash n carry run that it doesn't matter how strong your iphone screen protector is , it will still break if you leave your phone on the rear bumper of a Shogun and slam the tailgate on it ( funny that eh) ?.

Anyway's there I am sat in the shopping precinct waiting for my phone screen to be replaced and where in days of old I've been known to blow major amounts of money in some local bookmakers and all those old feelings of having a crafty bet still came flooding back , don't know if its because I'd had a bit of a stressy week or that I'd just spent a few hundred quid on myself or the fact that I know I have a fair amount of money sat in my account from my recent pension payment which is pretty much all earmarked for the wedding ? . I quickly had a word with myself and don't think it would have happened but even though I'm 300 odd days gamble free I'm glad one piece of the Triangle remained in tact , I had the money and the time but as I'm self excluded the location wasn't so much of a problem , bit scary really and not a feeling I enjoyed if I'm honest as I thought I'd moved on a bit .

But I have had a crappy sort of week at work , broke my phone , broke my little toe by kicking a trainer ( I know it's broke coz it's on my left foot and was pointing left until I straightened it and its a lovely shade of black this morning ) and spent lots of money which I never like doing anyway but I'll take the positives in that My blocks work , my phone is fixed , my toe will heal , last week can't hurt me, the money I spent was earned instead of being won and most importantly I'm still gamble free .

Happy Day's !!!

Rambling not Gambling always works :)).
