Hi - I am in my second day of not gambling. This is as long as I have got in 16 years. My first target is 50 days bet free.

I hope that by recording my progress on here , it will help me stay off it. I have lost far too much money and time to gambling. Sports betting and online slot machines - surely life has more to offer than that.

I fear I can no longer watch sport - as I always have the urge to bet on it... Even listening to the radio this morning they were talking about odds.

I really just want to get back to the days before I bet - life was a lot more simple end enjoyable then - Im 37 now and havent got a thing to show for it. I started gambling at 21 . Im hoping to start again now ... Il log on every day and be honest with how I have done.

Hi ya, no time to stop & chat properly but didn't want to leave your 2nd post unanswered! I don't think there is such a thing as a list of all online companies as I understand new ones crop up each day 🙁 I think you would be as well to pick up the phone to GamCare as I have read that some of the blockers will work with Apple products.

Will drop by later & welcome you properly!

Hi ya nomoremoney, welcome to recovery 🙂 A few months here & you may need a new handle 😉

Great work on your 1st 2 days 🙂 Obviously you've been looking @ some barriers to get your gambling (Time-Money-Location, remove one & you cannot gamble) triangle broken, are you giving counselling or GA a go?

Hope you managed to sort the blockers (if not may be worth switching to something that supports them) & are looking forward to living again - ODAAT

Youve done well my friend ... lets make it another weekend then you will feel even better.
As odaat says ... new casino sites pop up constantly . Put a blocker in and hopefully it should work . Think of downgrading phones ? Non net access ?
Wish you well on youre recovery m8 and gl .

Am in a very similar boat to you NMM I am 34 have had a good job for 12 years and am somehow in debt! I say somehow I know exactly how, I am a BIG sports fan and like you every time I think of sports I think odds and angles and question is that price right? I have just got through day 3 and I did watch the champions league but not as intently as normal and even flicked over to watch the rerun of Quigg Frampton from last weekend! Anyway well done so far and keep it going

TH, I know exactly what you mean. I have decided to simply watch football highlights for the next couple of weeks as I was obsessed with the in play betting... I would of won a fortune tbh over the weekend looking at some of the results- but I have done that many times and just lost the money in the long term- in a short term fit of TILT....

i think the hardest part is trying to convince yrself that you cant do one bet even if you think its a cert...

I am honestly dreading the EUROS - as I dont know how i will watch it without betting .... sad i know but true

I am into all sports NMM and I will prob be ok with the euros as I have always had a strange angle in that I am already invested into arsenal and england so really never bet on there games (once or twice but genrally abstained) but next week is cheltenham and i have booked the whole week off as I was planning on gambling, not doing that now and was supposed to be going up on the tuesday going to cancel that by saying I have got something come up at work! Strange but I also looked at the majority of time I ave pre booked and almost all of it is linked to a sports event that i bet on every year too late to cancel next week as holiday year is almost over but may cancel the others. Oh what a fine mess we CG can get ourselves in stay strong bud Day 4 for me and this one is going to be the LONGEST streak

booked next week off myself for cheltenham - but going to give it a miss and use the money for a few days away instead!! I am noticing a lot more time on my hands also to do other more productive things- if i get to monfay bet free will be into double figures... 4 days ? this weekend will be tough, for what its worth my advice would be to plan things to do.. gym etc to keep you away from the tv on sat/sun... last sat i was in the gym when the scores were on the tv on my treadmilll- had to turn it of after 5 mins before I jumped off the treadmill and ran to the bookies lol

I work most weekends so should not be a major issue, actually feeling pretty strong (its only day 5 mind), Will defo not be going to the races as that would be too hard but may watch it on record or something as quite enjoy the racing even when I dont bet on it but we will see how I feel by tuesday. I like you have found I have loads of time on my hands bought a treadmill recently as trying to get in shape am on that most days now for 40 mins or so and am watching a lot of non sport related tv series and such

Hi nomoremoney, glad you've got a diary going, I have found it really helps, especially in the early days as you can be completely honest and not be judged (well, hopefully not|). We all have different poisons but essentially gambling is gambling and it has become such a problem for us it has brought us here.

Have you limited your access to money? If you don't have it you can't spend it. Also re online gambling, you can request a new card from the bank and scratch off the last 3 digits security code, because if you are anyhing like me you will have your existing number memorised and etched in your brain!

Next week is a big week in the racing calender, consider handing your finances over incase you are tempted - the adverts are everywhere, you can hardly miss them. Wishing you well, friend xx
