This has gone on for months, done all the tests, been on trazedone, didn’t work, now on lorazepam, no working, it’s a crisis noe so hopefully a desicion will be made in the near future. Needs meds that a gp cannot give. She may have to be transferred to a phsyc unit. It’s all I think about atm, as soon as I wake up. Just want her settled, bless her.

My thoughts are with you Mary. My father completely lost the plot towards the end of his life but fortunately they found him a place in a secure unit for people with alzheimer/dementia. I visited him every week but don't think he knew who I was.

The best thing you can do for your mam is to take good care of yourself so that you can be calm and composed when you visit her. Once they get her medication sorted out she should settle down. She might seemed distressed at times but doctors told me that is just part and parcel of the illness.

Take care, keep your chin up and don't gamble ... Stephen x

Thank you for the post. Sorry to hear about your mum. As far as gambling goes stop now. I've been on here since 2011. If I'd have stopped then I don't even want to imagine how much better the last few years would've been. As for books I can recommend overcoming gambling by Philip Mawer. Best wishes to you

Hey marypoppins. Thanks very much for your support. Hope things are getting better for you. Life is hard but it's even harder if we revert to type and try to blot out our problems with gambling. Keep your chin up and stay strong.

Slipped up yesterday to he tuneof £250, became about trying to win the machine not the money, idiot! I wouldn’t care I was watching this guy (had no choice he was so verbal about every spin) put £600 on the same game, I was cringing, he was so anxious whilst he was doing it though. I will beat this thing, when I go on holiday it never enters my head!

Sorry to hear that you gambled Mary but it's done now and cannot be undone.

Learn from it. Pick yourself up and try again.

Wishing you well ... Stephen

Smart move by using monzo, make sure to turn on the feature to block gambling transactions on monzo too. Wish you all the best.
