It's quite strange really as you said all our gambling lives we take financial risks everyday , yet transfer that in to real life situations and we won't go for it , we hold back from the thing that could really change our lives . I think I've been the same in some areas , I'd always plodded along doing the same thing with my business and nothing changed but last year I invested a fair bit in a refit and it's really paid off . It was just the thought of losing so much had it not paid off but sometimes there's nothing fear except fear itself ! Could you not improve on your skills with other courses which could open up other opportunities for you ? To broaden you're skills could be a good goal ?

Yeah Alan it just shows the same in your life. A fear is the right word but on the flip side I'm being reckless everyday. Well pleased for you though pal! You sound motivated.

Exactly Alan I do want or need to broaden skills a bit and that may take away some worry. If I can prove to myself I can do certain tasks.

Oldham the crochet is going well. Ain't done any tonight... yet. But this second square is mint compared to the first one. Honestly I reckon it could pass off as the real thing. I'll post it when I get it done. It take a while though as don't get many hours in a day and is not a natural process yet so have to really think through each stage. You weren't taking the mick were you? Haha!

As you've just proved to yourself with the crocheting, sometimes in life you just gotta go for it my friend , if you've got the baalls to come on here and admit to all the fellas your crocheting small squares for a blanket , you've got the ability to go forwards with a new work plan !. And I don't think for one minute Oldhams taking the Mick ? Have a good night Change and stay positive!

Morning all - back on the same train to work. Think I'm even sat in the same seat as yesterday!

I need to sort some focus out for my life. Really need some kind of longer term goal or plan. It's bugging me immensely that I don't have that. So as a starter by the end of the month (which will be my anniversary on here) I want to have 5 goals for the year. I'll then take it from there. That sounds fairly simple but I reckon it could be hard for me to get anything down.

Positives

- it isn't raining cats and dogs this morning

- I'm becoming more self aware of my lack of focus in life and have a plan to deal with it

- taking a client out for lunch today so at least will be out the office for a bit

- one of my bosses is leaving shortly which is disappointing but it will bring change and that is likely to remove some of the mundane repetition I currently face

- I'm on day 37 so double that and I think that's my best gamble free run... keep the faith change!

Hello, Change,

Hope you don't mind a suggestion but if you are thinking of doing something different or retraining, do some research as to what would actually be involved ie look online at courses or even speak to headhunters. What I'm trying to suggest, not very eloquently is to break the process of thinking what else you might do into bite size and manageable chunks. And like anything else, gathering factual information helps.

But one word of warning and my apologies if this is unsettling: it's not unheard of for people to go all out for a lifestyle change and just take their problems and discontent with them. The midlife crisis, whilst mocked, is very real, although I gather you're a bit young. But when picturing yourself in another occupation, picture yourself at the same age (not young free and single) with the same family pressures and the same temptation to gamble. But if it's a better picture because you're more fulfilled 9 to 5, absolutely go for it.

BW,

CW

My son has been admitted to hospital again so worrying times. Pray nothing too serious. These little ones bring so much joy but also untold stress.
