I did it. I got through Day 2

I spent about three hours in the gym and pushed myself to get everything done on my program, but it wasn't my best performance. I don't know, I just feel a bit deflated and sad sometimes. Is that normal?

I spent a total of £2.19 today on bagels and chewing gum. I can't think back to a day I've actually had money and spent so little. Everything went on the slots. I did feel a small sense of accomplishment but I'm embarrassed. So embarrassed I let things get so out of control.

This evening was tough. I was alone for a bit and I so wanted to gamble. I thought about my favourite slots and felt a huge sense of loss. Why do I feel so sentimental over something that has caused me so much pain? Anyway thanks to Gamstop I couldn't give in. I did loads of housework and cooked dinner. Not the same level of excitement but I'm going bed having gotten through day two. I hope I sleep better tonight.

Good job! I too have found distracting myself with cooking and housework has been pretty helpful. I decluttered and organised some of my flat at the weekend and looking forward to getting more done. Clears the mind a bit.

I just randomly came across an article on an unrelated website i was browsing, found the escapism and a form of meditation part interesting and relatable. Maybe the same for you based on previous messages!

“Karter goes on to explain that ‘gambling addiction’ is a blanket diagnosis; in fact, the motives behind gambling and the potential impact on mental health is incredibly varied, and is different for men and women. Whereas men look for the anticipation of a big win and the attention that comes with it, Karter says women often decide to gamble as a form of escapism. “Women tend to choose products that are simple and repetitive, like bingo and slots. In a way it acts like a form of mindfulness or meditation,” she explains. “They can block out the problems at home and work, and it’s like a protective shield against anxious thoughts and feelings.”

Hope you sleep well ?
