Still gamble free and not being complacent.

Interesting topic on boredom being bounced around. I wish boredom was my answer, or the answer many say was their reason for gambling. Is it that simple? And if it is what are you missing?

I've been missing self respect and respect for others for most of my life. I'm trying to improve on both of those things. It's really good to see that you are still gamble free and not being complacent Tri. Take care of yourself x

thanks maybenow. working on this journey in gambling illness takes its toll though. I certainly understand why an addict may drop off the scene or want to say 'job done'. I keep reminding myself of the glass half full thinking. Finding the positives. thanks to all that have supported mysefl and others. It can be a tough journey if a person is deep in the do do

One month on. Still working the tools offered to me to stay off this illness.

Struggling to find the time to do everything, but that never stopped me gambling so i shouldn't forget that.

Been a while so thought'd give a quick update. Still working on my recovery daily, attending GA, etc and making sure i check in on the 2018 challenge frequently.

All these and many more strategies are what keep me in recovery but i try hard not to get complacent.

Keep positive, tri

Looking forward to seeing more details on the British internet self exclusion for all sites. I hope its going to be what it says on the tin, but there is a part of me that knows the industry will leave a window open somewhere so gamblers who really want a bet will find a way through. They are not thick. They know that most money is raised through addicts but i totally agree with the majority that it should help the people who have just got in too deep and need to stop.

Looking forward to seeing the details.

Still attending GA meetings as part of my recovery, but I understand differing perceptions of how GA works.

The basic fact is GA is not religious. What it defines itself by is spiritual - being open to honesty, openmindedness and willingness to change.

Give GA time to help you and try not to worry about the long term. Especially in the early days, we encourage new members to get to at least 12 weeks of GA meetings. After that, you should have more of a knowledge to make a decision if GA is helping you or not.

Bon voyage, tri

Took a break for Gamcare.  Just felt i needed to change my recovery tools and shake my toolkit up.

Good thing is i'm still in recovery.

Why am i back?  Coronavirus kind of tore my recovery strategy apart.  I realised i needed a bit more support than i was getting.  Would have been too easy to drift and get lazy with recovery.

I've also been back on the chat pages and its been good to see some familiar faces.

Share soon, Tri
