it helps that i remember that i'm never cured

even after 3 months of not gambling

it only took me 1 bet to get back into the whole sorry mess again

Fella it is said it takes 21 days to break a habit, to which today I hope you feel the pleasure of, the time gifted back to ourselves is a point of endless opportunity.

Then it is said it takes a lifetime to recover from addiction, this I believe profoundly true, this is for us a choice for life.

Keep making yours my friend

Duncs stepping forward never back.

Well done on 21 days keep up the good work. It's great to get to the point but don't make the mistake I made by thinking you'd won and didn't need gamcare anymore. Took me over a year to come back and I'm so glad I did.

Echoing the words of duncs this is a lifetime recovery because like all addictions you only beat it by never going back, but it's always there. Always look forward as the past has gone, it's done, it's happened and we can't change that. The future has yet to be written for any of us and to me that's exciting.

Keep fighting the fight

thanks Craig

yes the past is the past but i can learn from it surely? Danger of course is that i spend too much time worrying over what was rather than what is.

Today i'm focusing on making this day positive and happy

Thanks for your support. I need it

day 22

There is a lot of temptation around and sometimes i do still want to gamble

Like many around me remind me if i don't place the first bet i can't place the second. Lot of common sense in that statement

This weekend's festivities i will be avoiding for my own protection

i'll focus on a great weekend without the negativity of gambling

100% agree we must learn from our past, and that's everyone not just gamblers because I believe we have to make mistakes in life to ensure we don't do it again. Unfortunate thing for gamblers is that the mistakes are costly and it's difficult to stop when there is something inside that tries to draw us back in.

I am a firm believer in not dwelling on the past because it does us no good. Depression/anxiety etc are all associated with looking backwards. And by looking at the past and dwelling we are effectively stopping our chances of ever being free of gambling (if that makes sense).

Learn and move forward.

There is a phrase/saying that I always think about and it is relevant to all aspects of life.

"Give me the strength to accept the things I cannot change and change the things I cannot accept". Well you cannot change the past mistakes as it has gone, but we can all change the fact we are gamblers and over time stop being gamblers.

Congrats on Day 22.
