Hi all , My name is Matt

i am a compulsive Gambler and now starting my journey to recovery ( Fingers Crossed )

I am 30 years old with a daughter and a partner , I have caused so much destruction to our future through gambling it's unbelievable .

I have gambled about £50k over the last couple of years in bookies and online casinos , I am at a point that my life is falling apart and now need to take action. Just recently I have booked a appointment with the Mind organisation who feel I need counselling which I am happy to do, I have self excluded myself from all the bookies in my area and online accounts.

one day at a time but it starts now , Thanks for reading

Hi Matt, welcome to the start of your journey. I'm also recently new to this site (couple of weeks) and can honestly say, if it wasn't for the support, advice and reading other diaries on here I wouldn't be 13 days gamble free. If you can, take the time to read some diaries, as take the advice. I have come across a phrase in here that is so true and I love. I've written it in my work diary, so I can see it everyday. 'I can't win because I can't stop!' Very true I'm my case. Im 100% done with giving my hard earned cash to the online slots! Good luck and stay strong. Posting each day how you're getting on really helps too. C x

Hi matt

One of the most important steps is too come here. We are all in the same boat. When I first gave up I thought after a while I could go back too betting and being able too control my loses. I was so wrong the problem is still there you need too give up and stay gf. That's what I plan too do this time. I relapsed a few weeks back. Been doing so well and caved in 127 days I was at. But I have licked my wounds and I am back. So good luck my friend give up and give up for good. Become that stronger person and have a gf life.

Good luck mate

Great to hear! Good for you! Yes, I'm doing good thank you. Hoping to stay strong! I'm most defiantly appreciating the smaller things in life now I don't have the fog of gambling in my head...what a difference that makes! Simple things, bring such pleasure and don't cost a penny! 🙂 C x

Thanks for the messages Charley & My family

Just take one day at time and truly think about what the money represents and how long it takes to earn it, they say a fool and their money is soon parted and think this is the case with me. Still have not gambled and to be honest it has not been that hard but I know it will never leave me. Keep going guys and come back for support.
