Hello Lifesuckss,

Thanks for updating your diary. You're doing really well to have more than 5 gamble free weeks under your belt! So now it looks like you're starting to think about the consequences of your gambling. Gambling can affect all areas of your life - money, personal relationships, work, housing, health, mental health... You might find some pointers to help you start making sense of it here on our website:

https://www.gamcare.org.uk/understanding-gambling-problems/how-can-gambling-affect-your-life/

You can also give us a call on the Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or by Livechat.

In the meantime, it looks like you've started this as a new diary thread. Would you like us to merge it with the one you started in January?

https://www.gamcare.org.uk/forum/recovery-diaries/today-is-my-day-1-of-quitting-i-am-leaving-gambling-behind-and-i-took-an-oath-and-promised-god-that-never-again-i-will-play-any-kind-of-game-of-chance-since-16-until-now-all-i-have-done-is-gamble-i-a/#post-1982003

If you like you can rename it if 'today is my day 1' doesn't feel right any more. Let us know what you'd like to do.

Best wishes,

Deirdre

Drawing the line is the best thing ever, once you know that you have done so for the last time. I'm over 500 days 'clean' and will remain so. Previously in my heart of hearts I knew I could return to gambling, but not now.

Hopefully you have reached that decision that you will not turn back, not ever. It is hard and the damage will probably take years to sort out. But time is on your side - one day at a time. You can do this LS!
