It comes as no suprise but it is quite disgusting. Making money will always be nr1. Everything else is flexible.

Hi c4

Absolutely disgusting, profits before anything else, just to put into prespective, Ireland won't allow these machines in the bookies as they argue they are so dangerous.

Mind boggling how undemocratic this is.

The arguments are-

It will lose jobs. Well tough she'ite. You can use that argument to resist any change. Don't ban guns in USA as it will kill jobs. Never mind school massacres.

Don't ban the ivory trade, don't ban child P o rn. Jobs at stake.

It will lose the treasury money. Well again, tough she'ite. Yes, the government needs money for public services. But here's an idea. Raise f****n taxes. Be open about it. Stop pretending we can have out cake and eat it - ie low taxes and high spending.

The gambling and government revenue argument is also full of holes. If daddy's sp#@king all his wages on the slots, then families have no money to spend in the real economy. They become more dependant on state support. In any event, you can't always measure health in hard economic terms. What about the human cost of addiction?

The arguments are false. The only people who really benefit are the shareholders, lobbyists and perhaps some politicians.

That's why this is undemocratic.

Ty for all the posts. All of you have valid points. Yes Mr Davies does have some questions to awnser. It smells of US politics where all industry buy the politicians favours for dollars. What strikes me when I see Trump today talking about more and harsh punishment for the opioid crisis over there is this. They (The industry) know how to create addicts but they dont have two s***s of a clue how to cure them again. So it is more tools for the rich to stay rich and keep the poor down and in control. That is what it is. A tool for wealth and power. And they do not give a s**t about the costs neither because the smell never gets to where they are sitting. That sucks and it is not fair. I hope to be around that day someone finds a universal qure for all addictions. I mean if they can fix blood cancer with active T4 cells then everything is possible.
