Hello all,

Welcome to my diary.

I have been a problem gambler for around two years. I have tried many times to stop, usually the longest I have lasted is a month, then I will become confident thinking I've beat my addiction, decide to reward myself with a 'little' flutter and before I know it I am a few hundred poorer.

I am taking steps to address this:

1.) I have downloaded and installed gamban on my mobile.

2.) My savings (though there's only 200 left now) are in a secure account

3.) I am planning on updating this diary daily to keep myself on track.

The last time I gambled was this evening. I had had an awful weekend in work (I'm a carer) and just hit the self destruct button (wine and gambling never a good idea, I know) I am currently £185 down. I have just self excluded from the site I was using (as I have done to all the others)

My problem is while I have gamban for my phone I have yet to find a decent anti gambling app for my chromebook. And after a while of not gambling I will use my chromebook as I know it isn't protected. If anyone knows a good anti gambling tool I can download (free or pay for) please let me know. I keep failing because my chromebook is not protected!

I've even thought about selling it just so I won't be tempted again after a few weeks pass.

Sorry if I am rambling on a bit, I am just trying to express myself as much as I can and vent here. I do not have family or close friends I can confide in.

Thanks for reading and I really hope some of you leave some comments and follow my diary.

Strength and good wishes to you all.

Hi ButterflyGirl đŸ™‚

Good to see you reaching out but I’m a little confused by your post, suggesting that finding adequate blocking software will resolve this, since your title suggests you have an idea how this recovery lark works!?

When I 1st arrived here, I thought how you write, believed ‘having a flutter’ was the best treat a gal could have & took a very long time to accept I was deluded...Then again my gambling career lasted nigh on 3 decades! You’re young, you’ve realised & accepted very quickly that you have a problem...Please don’t be the mug I was: get some counselling (GamCare offer this free), go to GA, educate yourself on addiction, confide in someone that can support you (there is help for them too, counselling through GamCare also & GamAnon)! You need to find the right tools to help you because you can’t fight this alone but you can control it - ODAAT

Hey odaat, thank you for the reply to my diary. I did not mean to confuse anyone, I am aware that overcoming gambling addiction is much more than installing sufficient blockers, I meant that this particular area for me has lead me to fail a few times before especially after a month or so of not gambling, it is a weakness I suppose x
