Hi StoneRoses I am new on here and it is good to read positive posts. The partying and socialising sounds good idea. And yes much better than wasting our time inside gambling. You have such a glowing future ahead of you and am sure once you start your career you will look back and wonder what the gambling was all about and look on it as something you experienced but now in your past. Enjoy your time off work, sounds like you have earned it. Well done

Thankyou for your kind words and support breakdowntime appreciate that!

Thats work done for 10 days looking forward to a night out tomorrow might treat myself to a new shirt then relax and watch the football snooker and boxing with friends before spending the week off putting my final essay and presentation together. 3 years have flown by and glad the majority of this final year when the work has needed doing ive been gamble free especially since beginning of this month!

Seen to be waking up in the mornings with a lot more excitement and passioh for life and feeling better although still have to battle anxiety at times and changing the way you see yourself and the effects of gambling is a big challenge.

A month gamble free looking forward to seeing what the next one brings will be closer to moving out, uni will be finished and should be an exciting time.

No gambling its horrible and harmful. I couldnt be bothered with starting this journey again given the strides forward im making.

Very rough today had one or two thoughts of gambling what with the boxing and everyone updating f*acebook with what bets they have on etc added to the fact saturday is always a tricky day, but having come so far i'm not starting this journey again, the urges pass, the strength builds. im feeling good! looking forward to going out with friends later enjoying a break from work and study! treated myself to a new shirt yesterday and good to have money in my pocket and not in a machine!

it's a new month and hopefully this one will be as good as the last!

Hey

Just think if you did bet and won, would you stop be happy and satisfied, no my friend you would not, you would continue until you were dry, the only way to win stone is to keep abstaining and maintaining, because the addiction is not going to go away, or disappear, the only way forwards is to keep starving it, that is the only way we win in every way,

Keep strong, be proud, and keep abstaining and maintaining.

Thanks Suzanne helpful piece of advice and reminder that 'just one bet' is always the start of disaster!

Well the weekend was fun spent a lot though and always find it difficult to get the motivation back for study when I have a break from everything but I think it's a positive to fill my time with friends and family etc and have a break from life as it builds confidence back up and takes away any stress or boredom which in the past has led to gambling!

So the hard work starts again this week a 4,000 word essay on any sort of therapy to do with mental health/recovery. Quite tempted to do it on CBT to treat gambling addiction which would be quite funny/ironic to do my last essay of three years of university on treatments for gambling and may be a good learning experience!! in a good place at the moment looking forward to speaking to my counsellor tomorrow I imagine she will be quite surprised i've remained gamble free whilst she has been away!

Gamble free since April the 1st.

Been a c**P day or two had counselling today but sometimes it's hard to work out whether its beneficial or not!

Struggling with getting started with my last essay which is making me feel stressed, tired and frustrated! Won't give up because only a few weeks left but do feel like doing so! just another test to overcome but it's hard juggling work and uni and anytime off feel like just switching off!

Still gamble free hope to keep working through things.

Hi Stone,

Try to find something else to switch off with, you know gambling makes everything worse, box sets, telly, reading to relax, hell stone start knitting, lol, make sure the triangle is 100% in place, you can't possibly lose then.

Stay strong and keep winning

I posted the other day but doesnt seem to have appeared! I agree Suzanne but with the uni workload it's difficult to switch of or relax completely as in the back of the mind I know I have to submit the work on a particular date! Feel like i've not got much left in the tank but the finishing line is in sight so won't be giving up! i'm about 50% through the work with a week to go!

It's been a difficult week, felt quite down and like i've wasted most of my time off! This is probably because of the uni workload once that passes I'm sure I will be feeling great and it will be another thing ticked off

Still winning though NOT A PENNY SPENT ON GAMBLING since April1st and that feels brilliant! Not really having urges which is good! Bad days come and go that's a part of life but the solution is to keep going and not use gambling as an escape I have walked that path far too many times.

I am creating my own path of hope, financial security, achieving my dreams, good relationships, self worth, it requires patience but will get there!

Well...been back to work today after 10 days off, didnt feel great to be honest! also felt very anxious all day really p1sses me off at times feel like I cant cope as its so overwhelming at times!

Maybe its the pressure of this last essay and presentation on friday ahh well good days and bad days!

Still despite this 3000 of 4000 words done on the essay so 75% there one last push tomorrow and its done! don't feel its my best work but i've tried and that's all you can do sometimes!

No gambling, recovery is going great, gambling feels like a thing of the distant past, I'm not having many urges and if i did I realise the damage it would cause. Think i'm close to achieving a personal best on the recovery front dont think ive ever reached 50 days must be close to that having stopped on 1st April!
