Well, all the best to you Ryan - however frustrated we all felt about your situation, the bottom line is that we were willing you to make changes in your life. But you know yourself best of all, and so be it. Remember that if you ever need help in the future there will always be a willing ear on this site.

Take care,

Joanna

Hi Ryan.... We all can make change if we wish to do so.... But if your happy and content with your life, your very unlikely going to change are you?

The worlds your oyster bud... You can achieve anything you want.

I just turned 30 and have been a CG for at least 10 years and it's done nothing but hold me back. When I gamble, I become I person I despise. I want change... I have had enough of gambling tokens, because that's all they are. That 850 you had wasn't money you could spend... It was your bankroll. And every gambler has a bad run and you'll eventually be broke.

I can't advise you on what you should or shouldn't do... Just do what makes you happy mate 🙂

Hi Ryan,

I read your thread with interest. I am 30 now and can relate to your story in alot of ways as I'm sure alot of people can.

My parents have always looked after me pretty well. When I was 18-early 20's I had periods of time when I lived at home. Slept all day, went to friend's all night/partied/gambled/drank etc etc. and at the point I would have been happy to do that all my life. I didn't want to work. I never wanted a career. I went to Uni only because it put off having to get a job. I didn't particularly want to be there. I changed course a couple of times. In the last year, I had very few friends. I moved back home and travelled 30 miles to Uni every day.

After uni I bummed about some more... I guess the difference could be my parents were more forceful in making me get a job than yours seem to be.

At the age of 30 I have now realised that that are certain things in life that you should do and you might begin to even like them.

You say you can't change. It might seem like that but everyone can change. 1 year ago, I smoked, gambled, took drugs, drank alot and did no exercise... No my only vice is drinking but even that gets boring.

You say you don't know what you would do with your time. I can relate to that and it is something I still struggle with. I started another thread about filling with void, which I am still looking for some advice from others on.

Sorry for rambling on. You did well to come on this site. Maybe you aren't quite ready to change but it does no harm to read as much of this site as you can and try to take advice from all the wonderful people who have been struggling with gambling addiction for as long as you or I have been alive.

Good luck,

Gareth
