I’m struggling to connect and socialise as I work towards getting over gambling! I distance myself from people and even family at times and I can’t seem to snap out of it? I did play football and and obviously socialising and the banter and mates came with it but I just lack the motivation for it now!

Any suggestions on how to get past this and be more open? And just simply snap out of it. I know it’s not a quick fix but I welcome any ideas and suggestions

Hi Carl I am similar at times I think the real answer is to get back out there! Get involved in football again / the gym or something similar! Not easy but it helps fill the void and gives you a focus good luck!

Yes and I made gambling my friend which was well on the way to totally destroying me. I have a theory that part of compulsive gambling is personality issues like a tendency to be a loner.

I sought defense in being a loner but I was really very unhappy. Gambling was my mistress and she was cruel and heartless to me

I still struggle to connect and socialise but being gamble free gives me a much better life.

When you feel the serenity of being gamble free it becomes clearer what is important in life. One of those things is trying to have a good realtionship with family and people who care

Take it easy and dont be too hard on yourself

Best wishes from everyone on the forum
