Hi Everyone,

first post on here so a little nervous and also unsure as to what to say.

I'm 44 and have gambled for over 25 years, I have stopped before...but I always go back, this time has to be different.

Thanks

So what are your plans to make it different this time?

I'm hoping your answer includes commiting to a GA programme, I've seen lives completely turned around by it.

Willpower alone is a nice idea, but i dont know anyone it has worked for. How's today going?

Hi sameoldsituation,

Pangolin is right.

You've got to commit to some action like attending GA if you possibly can.

If you can't then Gamcare can arrange counselling.

Either way you've got to block access to gambling sites. Download K9. Ask someone else to set the password and keep it secret from you.

It's imperative that you break the vicious gambling circle.

It's so importany to get obstacles in place to prevent gambling.

Self exclude from local High St Bookies is another thing you can do.

You could let a relative have control of your finances to make immediate money availability scarce for you.

You can turn your life around (as Pangolin comments).

I gambled for years and lost over 200k.

I've started to turn it around and I've knocked up 30 days without gambling.

It was'nt easy early on and it's one day at a time but it can be done.

What I can say to you is that I've made arrangements with my creditors and I have a small amount of money still in the bank for my needs,

I now dow exercise and have taken up an old hobby again.

Obviously if you fill your time it means you are not spending time worrying about money for gambling purposes.

I'm doing the 2015 Challenge on the Forum and it helps me greatly.

It feels very good to be gambling free and life is much better for me now.

Life can be muchbetter for you as well.

I don't want to sound like some kind of "plaster saint" with this post.

It does illustrate that someone like me who was a CG can beat the Gambling BUG.

You can too.

Other people may post some ideas for you as well as Pangolin and me.

Hope what we have posted helps you.

Take Care Now.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

I spoke to Gamcare last night via their excelent live chat facility, I was advised to hold back on the 1-2-1 counselling as it can get very heavy, but is a route I want to take.

I do have debts through gambling but I have taken on a little more work (from home) this covers my debts...or it would if I didnt throw it all away.

Today has been gamble free.

Onwards and upwards

Good Luck
