Hi Hayley and welcome to the forum , firstly well done on admitting that youv'e got a problem with gambling and by co ming here youv'e found a great place for advice from likeminded people who've been right where you are now .

Chasing that big win is one reason addiction gives us to carry on gambling , as though that justifies us chucking away all our hard earned every week because in our weird way of looking at it all we need is " One big win " to make everything all ok again , it will give us all our lost money back and we'll never gamble again , right ?.

The problem is with us we have no off button that says " Ok I've spent enough now entertaining myself , I'll stop " , as a Compulsive Gambler our minds can always justify carrying on chucking our money away until there's nothing left and it's at that point it gets really bad when we then borrow money to carry on funding it , again because our mind is telling us that " one day it'll all come back , the truth is" we cannot win because we cannot stop " .

At 26 , your more than able to make a huge change to your future if you stop now and I'm afraid it does mean stopping , as very few of us could ever bet just for fun again .

I quit , after coming here just over 10 months ago and I haven't had a bet since , the first gthing I was told was about the Time , money , location triangle ( if you remove one , you can't bet ) it works and has kept me and many others on here safe , basicly I'm assuming you bet online ? so you need to install blocking software on your tablet, phone or pc , there's one called K9 which is free to download or others are available to purchase such as gamblock , you can self exclude from sites , change your email addresss so the companies don't keep sending free offers , you could also report your card lost and when the new one arrives get your partner to scratch off the security code so you can't use it to gamble , if you use high street bookies ? then again self excluding from multiple bookies is easy too , any advice you need is available from gamcare or just ask around the site .

It's just about breaking the cycle and gatting off the merry go round that keeps us gambling , you can do this but you really have to want too :)).

I'm sure a few more of the gang will be around to offer support over the coming days and you'll probably need a bit to start so keep this place close and keep posting .

Wishing you well and will talk to you soon .

Alan
