Hi im new on here and 1 day gamble free my addiction is online gambling probably just once a month so not often but I am now in debt I used to gamble more often but for the last year I’ve stopped myself and reduced but now I can’t afford to do it and am sick of blowing all my money. I have to keep it secret and deal with it my self but I have put betfilter on my phone so hopefully this is a new start.
I am also not going to use a card to save I’m going to have cash as it’s only online gambling that’s the problem
i hope I can stop once and for all and live a normal happy life again

Yes self excluded .. I always say gamble one night a month and self exclude straight away as soon as I come to my senses ... but Sunday night I lost about £400 in less than 2 hours... this happens once a month I always self exclude but always find new ones. Hopefully now I have bet filter things might improve. What’s your story

Is good that you've come here to look for help. You say that you have to keep it all to yourself but in my experience it's better if there is someone you can tell. It relieves a lot of the guilt by it no longer being a secret but also makes you accountable to someone else.

I can’t wait for the GameStop to come in. Maybe I need to actively search and exclude like you once a month.. I’ve been gamble free for 5 days now .. thank you for your reply I spoke to someone in live chat which made me feel relieved but I am too ashamed to tell anyone else. Keep Going Mary. I am at day 30 or thereabouts.Sometimes finding the root cause of anything takes a lifetime if you are not great at such self analysis; I know I'm often not. My belief re how to stop, even before I read the bumff about it, was twofold
1. Find something else in life to give the buzz etc that G obv gave (then took away bigtime). Something(s) that gives you things to look forward to that are non desctructive ...and a lot cheaper!
2. Look at the morality of the waste one is responsible for. Add to this the lies, big and small, to oneself and those around you.
I know I am so much better than what I became (and I am a small, small time CG compared to what I read on this site!) and that's what I want to become again. That, and it's so much cheaper!! đŸ™‚
Take the issue seriously and constantly remind yourself of G's destructiveness to yourself and grow tall!

The urges if you have a lifelong issue never go, they just get less each day but everyone is different. Im alot of days gf but had no desires as of yet but 40 years worth of loss probably makes it easier I don't know.
You need support from others in the real world aswell as in the virtual world its a lifelong road and won't happen overnight

Thank you I can’t tell anyone one out in the real world ! I’m too ashamed and my partner gambles Too which makes it harder for me bcz he thinks I’ve been stopped for a year !!! The next step I take is going to be to pay two of my visas off and just have cash each week no card anymore !!! How do people deal with relapses ? Is it normal to have them ! I’ve not had one yet but read a lot do have a few before quitting completely!!!
