I have been trading since 2019, having ups and downs in terms of profitability and looses. 2019 I was still in college, just trading with my pocket money and some small £10-£20 deposits, down the line I started trading with £100 ..and earning like 50% profit or -200% loses, 8 months ago I got my first paying job, which I am being paid massively amount when , Compared to what I was earning, and furthermore 10 months ago I was living in Another contry, earning less than £200 a month, now imagine am earning >×10 the amount.

My paycheck might be little to some, but to me it's a lot of money , when compared to my past wages/ allowances. Once I started earning such amounts, I started experiencing dopamine effect, not knowing what to do but trading, everything that I wanted to buy with money a year ago has just come in an instant and am confused on what to do.

To cut story short, since my first paycheck, I have been trading it going to zero, and at times to my overdraft. At times I recover all my looses but after a week I loose everything. I have losses of £8,000 in less than 3 days, and after receiving my paycheck, I trade, recover it again with a £2,000 profit, But loose everything again after a week because of greed.

I know all the technical sides and market analysis and understand market structure, but I want to completely stop trading.

I just want to stop trading completely am done with the sleepless nights, worrying about my future, how I will buy properties fast, how I will retire my parents early , how I will retire early, just thinking thinking everyday about the future, but not living the moment. To be honest my 8 months paycheck I have only used 30% the rest I have lost it to trading.

Back in my previous country I was surviving hand to mouth (whatever I earn pays food and rent), but this country has given me a chance to live my life, eating decent amount having savings and not worrying about your next payday.

I just want to stop trading and start living a normal life.

Dear Shockboy,

Welcome to the Forum

As you are describing trading can be ‘gambling-type behaviours’ you are identifying both the ‘ups and downs’ financially but also it can have a secondary effect to your mood. Gambling and trading that crosses outside of disposable income may mean you are having to ‘juggle’ financially. This can have an impact on your stress-levels even where the risk may seem exciting.

I appreciate that for you there is a wider pressure to ‘make the most’ of your opportunities in countries where the salary may be higher to ‘use’ that money not just for daily living but strategically for yourself and your parents. You sound like a kind and hard-working person. The decision to stop trading completely will allow you to be able to divert your resources building a safer foundation for an enjoyable life.

Best Wishes,
