Hi All,
New here hoping to get some advice and tactics to use as i get get off these slots that are taking over my life dont believe it is the actual machines causing this as they are pretty boring but keep my occupied from something else
Hi pal. Well done on joining here and welcome.
If you're serious about giving up put blocks in place whilst you're strong.
You can self exclude from all bookies in your town by phoning 08002942060. One 15 minute call can save your life.
Get internet blocking software for all your devices. K9 Gamblock or something similar.
Hand over your finances to someone you trust, you might also consider reporting your card lost. Get someone to open your new card letter and get them to scratch off the 3 digit security number. No online purchases.
I'm 8 weeks free after putting these blocks in place so everything is possible. I'd previously gambled for 24 years!
With regards to your boredom, once you take gambling out of the equation it frees your mind. There's a million and one things to do in life. Wishing you well and enjoy a beautiful gamble free day
I also attend a weekly GA meeting. Daunting at first, these rooms are pretty special and well worth a try.
Hello harko
Welcome to the forum.
Great advice from rensonbob.
I would only add that this site is great for advice and support. You're never alone here. Phone the helpline, join the chatroom, use netline, start a diary. It will help keep yourself busy and use your time productively learning from others.
GamCare also offer free counselling.
Plenty more ideas to be found around the forum.
Keep reading and posting.
Best wishes
Glint
Hi Harko, welcome.
Well done for starting a diary.
I too have a problem with slot machines, I stared a diary recently and received some valuable advice. You may have heard these already but sharing just incase it helps
In order for me to gamble I need the following 3 things, time, money and location. If one element of this triangle is removed I cannot gamble. I have made sure one is removed ever since and am currently on day 8.
I was also left this comment
We cannot win because we cannot stop
I tell myself this all the time, it's so true. Even if the machine pays out I'd either put on back in or loose it in the next machine
Good luck with your recovery
