Hi,
I am a 55 year old woman who last gambled 14 days ago & don't intend to ever bet again.
I have been gambling for as long as I can remember. For years I went to the slot machines until I was too ashamed to be seen there. Then I started telephone betting on horses, online bingo and slots. I would spend hour after hour chasing my loses and felt such shame in the early hours of the morning.
Last Xmas, I self excluded from the bingo sites.
But guess what? I started buying tons of scratch cards and felt my life was boring without gambling. I then went back to another online site which I hadn't used in many many years & went back on the horses. I lost a fortune in two weeks.
But no more. I have got off the merry-go-round that is gambling and I realise I cannot even do the lottery or play cards.
I am so much happier and even my dreams are sweeter!!
I realise I left it late in life to quit but if I live til 85, haven't I got 30 gamble free years ahead.

Hi Suzylemon
You are never too late to stop gambling. I am 59 and have been in recovery for only 5 days but I know I am going to beat it this time. I have wasted enough years, now's the time to look to the future. Hey, I could have 30 gamble-free years if I live to 89 🙂
Lot's of encourage on here so you can do it, you already sound positive.
Best wishes
Elfie
Hi Suzy
Welcome to this wonderful forum which really helps to stop gambling
I started gambling 8 years ago in my forties we are never too old to stop
I wish you well on abstaining it can be done
I find having a diary helps me to unload all my feelings on as I do feel different daily
I use the triangle which is time location and money take one away and it makes it impossible to play
Best wishes
