Hi all,
I have just joined the site and read through a few of the posts on here so thought it was only right to share my story.
I'm in a bit of a different situation the many people here, in that I haven't really lost anything significant...yet. I have had numerous close calls with online roulette where I have been on the last spin of the wheel and it's fortunately worked out okay. Last week for example, had things worked out differently, I'd have lost all of the holiday money saved up by my partner and I (over £1500). It all came down to one spin on red or black which went my way. I feel sick thinking about what would have happened if I'd lost.
The way things are, I know that if I don't change it's a matter of time before I'm staring at massive losses. I'm one of these people that has to win back my losses and can start from betting £25 and within a few minutes it's in the hundreds. I have ruined nights out with my partner where I've panicked having been hundreds down before sneaking off to the toilet to win it back by sheer fluke.
I hope by acting now, I can stop myself doing something I'm going to regret.
Hey. ..yes your right...it's just luck ...you've been lucky so far...but the problems there love...you've already said about chasing your losses...what happens when the luck runs out ? and it will...one day
Read the stories on here...it's just a matter of time..
I don't believe in luck. Luck is random and no one is responsible for it. People make their own choices. Bad ones, driven by addiction. Or positive ones, with a life to match.
Individuals are all individual but addiction and addict behaviour is fairly standard. Echo the advice to read round the forum to see where unchecked, the addiction can lead and to see real positive examples of recovery. The choice is your as to which to follow.

hi crazy eyes , welcome to the forum , i been exactly where you are and to a degree still am even though i have took action now to limit my access to a lot of cash , i know what you mean about that last spin saving you and i definitly know about how it can put you on a massive downer when you shoud be enjoying your evening , the advice is though if you need to chase a loss then your already heavily addicted and they will come a point when you lose and lose and never get to evens and as we can,t stop you will lose everything , its happened to me in may nad june this year blew all my wages on roulette in bookies and online , and i had that horrible feeling of missing out re couping up my loss with a number by landing next door , im 33 not sure how old yoau are , BUT IT WILL get worse , only if you can control and limit your bets will you be able to play but keep on this mate its essential
Thanks for your replies everyone.
I have even got into the mindset that if I have car repairs or extra bills to pay out one month, that it could be covered by a single spin on roulette. Stupid I know.
I know I need to change my mindset because it's I know one of these days it's going to get out of hand.
Your comments and advice are much appreciated and will continue to read the forum as a wake up call when I'm tempted to slip.
Hi
Sounds to me like your on the way to disaster.
The mindset you speak off winning a bill or repair is the same mindset which will see you paying double for the repair or bill
And that's where it becomes a real problem. If you can finish now even then I would take it and run because eventually the house always wins.
Hello Crazyeyes
I was in a similar situation, not lost much, not in any debt but smart enough to know I have a problem. I'm on Day 12 GF thanks to this forum.
It can be done but you have got to want it.
Have a read of some of the diaries and you'll soon see that we are lucky in a way. Some people have lost so much and would give anything to go back to where we are, no debt and no real damage. How long has it been sinice your last bet if you don't mind me asking.
I'm not in a position to give much advice as I'm still early days but I'm going strong and feel better for it.
Wishing you a good evening, gamble free
Well done on being 12 days GF, something to build on so keep going!
I know what you mean, I've read so many posts where people started off where we are but just went that step further and paid the price. It's amazing how quick things can escalate...as I mentioned earlier I've gone from ВЈ10 bets to £100 in minutes. It's a vicious circle - if I lose I need to win it back and if I win it makes me want to win more.
My last bet was on Saturday (on roulette, unsurprisingly). I've since self-excluded but I know there's always another site.
Well done on SE from your regular site. I have seen comments of K9 to block gambling sites on devices. Maybe worth a look
Yeah I've heard about this software. I'm feeling strong-willed at the moment but if I'm tempted to lapse will definitely look into it.
Thanks A-non.

Hi Allainepo.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences and give me such sound advice.
What you have written resonates with me and I can't argue with anything you've said to be honest.
I don't mind admitting that I dont usually like spending money and will go out of my way to save a couple of quid when buying anything, yet with gambling I'm so irrational. I spent about an hour the other night making sure I got the best deal possible when buying perfume for my gf's birthday (ended up saving a measly fiver!), yet I've been quite happy depositing £100s at a time on the roulette...madness!
But that's it for me...gambling is a swear word in my house from now on and I will not fail.
wow alaine that post is so powerful , really took so much from that and your bang on , thank you and your right if you google cora l and who own them and who own them again its so murky offshore investment companies candover investments , your right though the goverment needs to stop being so greedy and take action only they can help shut the industry down as i worry more and more young ppl like us we enjoy da buzz and became hooked for generations to come and as im sure u know the goverment takes 50% tax off all gambling profits , thats a hell of a lot of money , but money not everything is it ??? disgusting society really , lets go and live in a arab state where its illegal
peace all

All good valid points. Its utter madness...iv seen me putting a grand on a horse..take me weeks to earn that!
Government are IN ON IT technically speaking...they dont care about us compulsive gamblers...they want their slice of the £££€££....and how long will that continue??
Its up to the people to change this...but itll take a hell of a petition
Affected by gambling?
