Hi,

Been on this site a few times and felt like adding a post myself. I'm 25 and I've been having problems with gambling on roulette, it's become a massive issue. Like most gamblers I keep it a secret because I'd feel so weak and depressed if I told anyone. My dad found about two loans I took out last year to compensate for the money I lost, that was the worst I've ever felt and now I started again I really don't want to tell him because it'll just hurt him that I lied about it AGAIN. The reason I don't want to self exclude myself is becuse I enjoy betting on the dogs, hourses and football (the most I'd bet is maybe £8) but when it comes to roulette either at the casino or bookies I just can't stop. Would be great to have a fresh start for the new year, if your a compulsive gambler like myself you'll understand how difficult it is to live off just £3 or £4 a day and I want to change that. The main reason I want to stop isn't just for the money it's so that I can live my life outsite of those four dark walls which have taken so much of my time and happiness. Good luck to everyone trying the make a better future for themselves in a gamble free life.

Thanks for reading.

Hi Mark

Firstly well done for recognising that you have a problem and are trying to find a way to fix things.

The hard truth is that the only way you will be able to control your actions is if you accept here and now that you are a compulsive gambler and therefore cannot allow yourself to place any kind of bets... On ANYTHING!

I can imagine right now your probably thinking that there has got to be an alternative... Please read my diary in the recovering diaries section - I felt the same. Refused to accept everyones advice and thought I could still gamble on the football / horse racing and just forget about roulette.

Well, to be fair I did that for over 7 months but eventually had a crazy period over 3 days and lost hundreds and hundreds. Thats on top of the three or so hundred I lost over the last 7 months outside of the roulette.

Looking back I can see that if i had been strong enough to stop ALL gambling back in May 14 I would have been in a much stronger frame of mind going into the Xmas period and maybe would have ridden the urges that came along when I was vunrable and had the opportunity to gamble on the FOBTs.

Wishing you all the best in the decisions you make. Stay close to this site and read as much as you can.

Mark

There is no instant fix to this. Only with courage to face the facts squarely will you give yourself the chance to change.

You seem to want that change without changing any aspects of your life.

Let those sports bets go, the price is to high to pay. Realise you cant control your gambling it controls you. Accept that!

Try GA, try anything! Your way doesnt work maybe the answer lies in another place.
Try it what do you have to lose
