Tonight I have relapsed. I gambled two days ago and tried to recover my losses tonight. I was up and lost it all. I was sweating from the rush. I have to start the process of forgiving myself. Tonight is a low night in life.

Hi Pure Justice,

Maybe you could tell us a bit more about what type of gambling you do, or your gambling history? Relapses are very common, as most gamblers would tell you, but you can also use them as a learning experience for how you can be more effective in the future if you're trying to quit. What would you need to do differently next time to protect yourself better? Are there any barriers to gambling you could put in place? If you gamble online, then blocking software would be useful; if it's in the bookies, then filling out self-exclusion forms would help.

In any event, getting individual counselling would probably be the best thing you could do, and it's what tends to help gamblers the most. We have partner agencies in many parts of the country that provide that at no cost, and if you wanted to get in touch with us we'd be happy to tell you more about it. We're open on the Helpline (0808 8020 133) or the Netline from 8am to midnight every day.

Hope this helps, and hang in there. Life can get a lot easier as long as you're not gambling.

Travis
