Hello all sorry I haven’t been on the chats for a few nights. I feel so stupid, I installed Gamban on my phone weeks and weeks ago, as this was what I used to gamble. But during the couple of relapses since then, I used unprotected devices, duh, have now put Gamban on all my devices (that’s two as well as my phone). I’m hoping this is what I secretly knew I needed, but as you all know, that’s only half the story when it comes to being completely GF…..see you on the chat…

Hi Misty

As I keep saying, it's all about practice and not a race. It's pretty much all about your topic title. Knowing your life is unmanageable with gambling. Knowing you can't control it, handing yourself over to whatever you identify as your higher power and then commitment to work on yourself so that you never want to gamble again.

It ls all about trying, trying, trying l. Never giving up on recovery, picking yourself up and trying again.

Thank you Stuart, I really appreciate your attention to everyone who is in need, I am getting back on every time remembering there wasn’t even a single day I could be GF at one stage. Financial recovery is slow, but I don’t dwell on that. Thank you

Hi Misty

I do think that's a better way to look at things. So you first gave up, how many days haven't you gambled ?

That's an achievement. You also know you have learned a bit through each relapse. You have added more friction and I have no doubt, through the disappointment you're gained more determination.

If you were a child and you fell over you would simply get back up and learn from it. Doesn't mean you wouldn't fall over again, but you would try not to. One day you would stop falling.

I'm sure you agree that there is one set way to recovery. My recovery would look different to everyone else's. What we all need is that break through where our brain and are feelings join in sync and don't want to gamble. At that point any thoughts or urges are easy to dismiss as gambling is no longer any significance to us. Today, nothing would make me gamble. That's just today. Tomorrow is another day and I don't need to worry about that. All I know I have to do is to concentrate on today. To be good today, kind, loving, empathetic, helping people, connected, talking, expressing feelings and thoughts and being grounded. Then I don't need to gamble.
