So I stayed away but today I got a lil money and thgu wats the harm of ten pounds ...... Well I lost sixtypounds and I was trying to play safe. Spin after spin was a low win or deadspin after high stake. I know in my heart cause I'm not dumb THESE MACHINES ARE ROBBING PEOPLE and WRECKING PEOPLES LIVES aload of yous will say its me I'm to blame. But what about the next poor sod end of the day these are fixed against the punter and with the new tax the machines are raking in un fair results just to pay they fobt TAX its not going to come from their profits is it.
Hi Deadspinbill
these machines cant rob you if you refuse to feed it money... simple as...
I get the impression you actually have no desire or intention to stop gambling, which makes me wonder why you use this site?? I cant work out what you want everyone to say?? That we know your right?? How would that help you??
Seems like you would still continue anyhow
I totally agree with you there needs to be a change in legislation.
However they are totally legal and the only thing we can do is not use them. If everyone stopped using them then I'm sure they wouldn't be there. And to be honest all types of gambling can be classed as robbery because it's designed for the house to always win.
Bill, they are government regulated and registered, they are not rigged; it may surprise you to learn that you are not Mystic Meg and picking some "right" numbers from 37 random ones won't bode in your favour - YOU CAN TYPE AS MANY CAPITALS AS YOU LIKE, IT WILL NOT CHANGE A GOD d**n THING.
You don't want to change your life and you do not want to stop gambling. It is so much easier to vent your spleen than grow a pair and actually face up to the complete and utter mess you are making of your life. All that anger, all that pent-up frustration - all wasted, all gone to nothing. Come back tomorrow, or in a few days, do the same again - your life, your career, your hopes and aspirations will all drift away until you are left with nothing. You think you have the upper hand by blaming the industry, you don't, and they are laughing at you because they know you will be back tomorrow.
Bill - Please read and take in what Graham C and the other wise folk here have written.
If these machines are rigged, you are going to lose. If these machines are not rigged, you are going to lose. It's a bit like saying you like driving the wrong way down the M1 but keep getting involved in head-on crashes and it's not fair.
Give it up now - save some money and stop being angry, and then let us know when you feel better.
Best wishes,
Joanna
Tbh problem is money and on that quest to gain money I fell into the fobt trap and on the many atempts to get out. I've failed as the draw of the money is so great and when I play I can't stop .... Yeh that my fault hands up tbh with u I've been back in already n atm stopping myself frm trying to go and get an actual profit as I'm even. What Im trying to get is people to question fobt losses as they seem unbelieveable to real life results or possible outcomes and if the govrnmnt stepped in and watched over the fobt system this forum may not have so many people here as I wud guess its a safe bet most are here from some kind of gambling problem which is connected to an electronic system I've said before there's different levels of gambling addiction each person is different but like I've said again I've done computer programming
And/if gates in coding
I'm not going back in again today could of been so bad its not a nice feeling even if u do ever win
Hi Bill - Glad to read your last post as it seems to me that you have lost a lot of your initial anger and are on the first steps to giving up gambling. I hear what you are saying about the government stepping in, but sadly I don't think it would reduce the number of compulsive gamblers. All the time the gambling industry is so lucrative, for the companies and the government, there will always be outlets for us to lose our money big time. Even if the Archbishop of Canterbury fixed the odds, we would still lose eventually. There is a saying on here:
"I cannot win because I cannot stop" and it's so true.
Best wishes,
Joanna
Are you aware of the self exclusion policy at the bookies in your area? Compulsive gamblers can't stop without it as the lure of the "rigged" machine is too great, Go to one of of those photo booths and get pictures of yourself (around 5 pounds) and take it in to the shop you frequent the most and ask them to self exclude you for at least a year and to do it for all of their other shops in the area. Each company will have their own policy so you will have to go to at least one of their shops. No shame and totally easy and the best 5 pounds you will ever spend. Yes, the machines are "rigged" and they are called fixed odds betting terminals because they are designed to pay out a fixed percentage. In my old gambling days I had been able to win thousands and every bet I made won. The machine was in payout mode and it could not lose. Equally, I had been able to lose thousands and not be able to win on anything just like you have experienced. The machine knows what numbers you have bet on; unlike a real casino wheel and that is why betting on a FOBT is just like playing a fruit machine. The best way to get back at the industry you despise is not to play! Self exclude today before you lose even more of your money and make them even richer. You know this is your best chance of recovery. I would estimate that every successful recovery must start with self exclusion and that over 99% of people on this site will use this facility eventually.
